Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Huawei Ascend Y550 / C8816 Series — 3.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (HB474284RBC)
This is a 3.8V, 2000mAh Li-ion replacement battery carrying OEM part number HB474284RBC. It fits the Huawei C8816, C8816D, Ascend Y550, and Ascend Y550-L01, among other models in this series. Swap it when the original cell can no longer hold charge through a normal day of calls, messaging, and screen use.
- C8816 and Y550 series compatibility: These models share the same 3.8V single-cell architecture, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one cell fits across the range without hardware modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a C8816 unit. The BMS accepted the new cell without fault codes, and the charge IC stepped through CC/CV phases correctly to full termination.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first installation, disable fast charging and run one full discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This gives the coulomb counter a clean reference cycle against the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging begins.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This is a voltage cliff issue, not a capacity defect. When the modem transmits or the screen peaks in brightness, current draw spikes briefly. If the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve, it misreads the state of charge, and the phone hits the hardware low-voltage cutoff before the percentage reaches zero. One full discharge-to-shutdown followed by an uninterrupted charge cycle resets the coulomb counter to the new cell's actual curve. After that cycle, shutdowns at 20–30% stop on most units.
Phone reports wrong battery percentage after cell swap
The fuel gauge IC stores a learned discharge curve from the old cell in non-volatile memory. A new cell with different internal resistance reads differently under load, so the percentage shown drifts — often reading full for longer than expected, then dropping fast near the bottom. The fix is a single full calibration cycle: drain the battery until the phone powers off on its own, then charge straight to 100% without interruption. After that cycle, the OS percentage tracks the actual cell state within a normal margin.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Huawei Y550 charged fine for two days, now it stops charging at around 80% — what's happening?
On the first few cycles with a new cell, the charge IC can terminate early because the battery's internal impedance reads higher than the threshold set for the aged cell it replaced. This looks like a charging fault but it usually self-corrects as the cell conditions through two or three full cycles. Run two complete discharge-to-shutdown and full-charge cycles without interruption. If it still caps below 95% after three cycles, check that the charging port contacts are clean and the cable delivers a stable 5V.
The phone gets noticeably warm near the battery compartment while charging the new cell — is that normal?
A new high-impedance cell generates more heat during the constant-current phase than a conditioned one does. For the first three to five cycles, mild warmth at the back cover near the battery is expected as the charge IC pushes current into a cell that hasn't yet settled to its operating impedance. If the phone becomes hot to hold or throttles the display, stop charging and let it cool to room temperature before resuming. After the cell conditions, charging temperature drops to the same range as the original battery.
The phone won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for several months — how do I recover it?
If cell voltage dropped below roughly 2.5V during storage, the BMS enters a lockout state and blocks normal charging to prevent thermal runaway on a deeply discharged cell. Plug the phone into a wall charger — not a computer USB port — and leave it connected for 20 to 30 minutes without pressing the power button. Most Huawei BMS firmware runs a trickle pre-charge recovery routine that slowly brings the cell back above the lockout threshold before switching to normal CC/CV charging. Once the charge indicator appears on screen, the BMS has cleared the lockout and charging will proceed normally.
