Replaces HB4F1, HWBAF1, BLT005 for Huawei U8220, U9120, C8600, CHT8000 and 19 additional models.
3.7V, 1500mAh lithium-ion cell restores full charge cycles to aging U8220 devices without voltage sag.
Connector seats flush into the original battery slot with standard Li-ion polarity; no locking tab.
We bench-tested this cell in a U8220 unit and confirmed stable 3.7V output under standby and call load.
After installation, run one complete discharge-charge cycle without fast charging so the fuel gauge IC recalibrates to the new cell's discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Huawei U8220 / U9120 / C8600 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (HB4F1)

This is a 3.7V, 1500mAh Li-ion cell built to fit the Huawei U8220 and a range of compatible Huawei handsets including the U9120, C8600, and CHT8000. It replaces OEM part numbers HB4F1, HWBAF1, and BLT005. The cell slots into the same battery bay and connects to the same charge IC and fuel gauge as the original.

  • U8220 / U9120 / C8600 platform fit: These models share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The HB4F1 cell communicates with the charge IC over the same data line across all listed variants, so one cell services the full compatibility group without adapter or modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on a U8220 unit and monitored BMS charge acceptance from the first plug-in. The protection circuit engaged correctly at low-voltage lockout and released on charge as expected. Charge current ramped through CC phase without thermal event.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first install: On first use after fitting this cell, run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle with fast charging disabled. The fuel gauge IC on these handsets calibrates its coulomb counter against the discharge curve — fast-charging an uncalibrated cell pushes current into a cell the IC has not yet mapped, which skews percentage readings for several subsequent cycles.

Why the U8220 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The U8220 uses a fuel gauge IC that builds its state-of-charge model from the discharge curve of the installed cell. When you fit a new cell, the IC still references the curve it learned from the old, degraded cell. This mismatch causes the reported percentage to diverge from the actual cell voltage — sometimes significantly. One full discharge down to automatic shutdown, followed by a full charge to 100%, forces the IC to replot its curve against the new cell. After that single cycle, percentage reporting stabilises.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the U8220 after replacement

This happens when the cell voltage drops sharply under load — modem transmission bursts and screen-on draw together can pull enough current to collapse voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold even while the fuel gauge still shows charge remaining. It is a voltage-cliff behaviour, not a capacity fault. Check that the battery contacts on the handset chassis are clean and making full contact — a high-resistance connection worsens voltage sag under peak load. If the shutdowns persist after one full calibration cycle, confirm the resting cell voltage sits above 3.6V when the gauge reads 30%.

Frequently Asked Questions

The U8220 powers on but cuts out at around 25% — is the replacement cell faulty?

Most likely not a faulty cell — this is voltage sag under modem and display load. When the GSM radio transmits, current draw spikes sharply, and a cell the fuel gauge hasn't yet calibrated to will hit BMS cutoff voltage before the percentage reading catches up. Run one full discharge cycle to shutdown and charge back to 100% with fast charging off. If shutdowns continue after that cycle, check that the battery contact plate in the chassis isn't bent or oxidised — a poor contact raises resistance and deepens the sag.

The phone won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for months before installation.

A cell stored at low charge for an extended period can drop below 2.5V per cell, which triggers BMS lockout — the protection circuit disconnects the cell to prevent damage, and the phone sees no power source at all. Connect the phone to a wall charger and leave it for 15–20 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC on the U8220 can trickle current into a locked-out cell and coax the BMS back into normal operation once voltage climbs above the recovery threshold of around 2.9V. If the charge LED does not appear within 30 minutes, try a different charger cable before assuming the cell is unrecoverable.

The U8220 feels warm near the battery compartment during the first few charges — is that normal with a new cell?

New high-impedance cells generate slightly more heat during the first few charge cycles as the charge IC works harder to push current through a cell that hasn't yet settled into its internal resistance baseline. On the U8220 this typically resolves within two to three full cycles as the cell's impedance drops. Warm to the touch is expected; hot enough to be uncomfortable is not — if the phone gets that hot, remove it from charge and let it cool before continuing. After the first calibration cycle the heat level should match what you saw with the original battery.
