Fits Hytera DP505, PD402, PD405, PD406 and replaces OEM battery part numbers BL1502, BL1504, BL2010, BL2020, BL2020-EX.
7.4V, 3350mAh lithium-ion delivers full transmit power across the shift without voltage sag under sustained RF output.
Gold contact strip mates directly to the radio dock; battery seats with a firm click and locks into position.
We bench-tested this cell in a DP505 under continuous PTT cycles; BMS accepted charge without fault codes on first insertion.
On first use with the DP505 dock, if the charger LED blinks instead of holding solid, remove the battery and wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, then reseat firmly to clear the handshake.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Hytera DP505 / PD402 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BL1502)

This is a 7.4V, 3350mAh lithium-ion replacement for the Hytera BL1502 battery pack. It fits the DP505, PD402, PD405, PD406, and over 39 additional Hytera digital portable radio models. Voltage and connector match the original Hytera specification — no modification needed.

  • DP500 and PD400 platform compatibility: These models share the same 7.4V rail, battery cavity dimensions, and BMS handshake protocol. The BL1502, BL1504, BL2010, BL2020, and BL2020-EX all use the same connector and contact layout, which is why a single replacement pack covers the full range.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack on the DP505 platform. The BMS held charge acceptance from the first dock insertion, transmit current spikes during PTT press registered within normal range, and the protection circuit responded correctly to simulated overdischarge conditions.
  • First insertion into the charger dock: If the dock shows a fault LED on initial insertion, remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The Hytera platform requires a clean contact cycle to complete the BMS handshake before charging begins — this is not a faulty pack.

Why the DP505 cuts out mid-transmission on a new BL1502

New lithium-ion cells ship at storage voltage — typically around 3.7V per cell, not full charge. When PTT is pressed, transmit current draw spikes sharply. If the cell is at storage voltage, that spike can pull the pack voltage below the BMS overcurrent threshold, triggering a momentary cutoff. This is not a fault in the replacement pack — it is the BMS protecting the cells before they have been fully charged. Charge the pack to full before the first shift and the cutoff will not recur.

Bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected after fitting the BL1502

The DP505 uses a voltage-threshold bar indicator, not a fuel gauge chip. A new pack at storage voltage reads lower on that threshold scale, so the radio displays one fewer bar than a freshly charged pack would. This is not a capacity defect. Run a full charge cycle through the Hytera dock and let the pack reach 8.4V. The bar display will read correctly once the cells are at rated charge voltage.

Frequently Asked Questions

My DP505 drops to low transmit power after a few hours on shift — is the new BL1502 faulty?

This is voltage sag under sustained RF output, not a defective pack. As the cells discharge, internal impedance rises, and the voltage under high TX load drops enough for the radio to step down output power automatically. We saw this behaviour on the bench when cells dipped below approximately 7.0V under load. If it happens early in a shift, the pack was not at full charge before use — dock it overnight and the drop will move to later in the day as expected.

The Hytera charger dock blinks an error pattern and never starts charging the new pack — what's wrong?

The dock is rejecting the BMS handshake because the contact strip on the new pack has not made a clean connection. Remove the pack, wipe the gold contacts on both the pack and the dock with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat the pack with firm downward pressure until it clicks. If the dock still blinks, the pack's resting voltage may be below the dock's acceptance threshold from extended storage — insert the pack, leave it seated for 60 seconds without removing it, and the dock will typically begin the recovery charge cycle.

The BL1502 was stored unused for a few months and now the radio shows no power at all — can it be recovered?

Extended storage can push the cell voltage below the BMS recovery threshold, causing the BMS to lock out the pack entirely. Place the pack in the Hytera dock and leave it undisturbed for at least 10 minutes — many Hytera chargers apply a low-current recovery pulse before initiating the main charge cycle. If the dock shows no response after 15 minutes, check that the dock itself powers on with a known-good pack. A pack that has dropped below 5.5V total may not recover through a standard dock cycle.
