Fits iBoto Smart Aqua X420GW, Smart C820W Aqua, and Smart L920SW Aqua robotic vacuums.
14.4V, 3400mAh lithium-ion delivers full motor torque on carpet and hard floors without voltage sag.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with a single locking tab—no adapter needed.
We bench-tested this cell under sustained suction load; BMS held stable current draw and discharged evenly.
Do not leave the vacuum on the charging dock permanently—continuous trickle charge degrades capacity faster than remove-when-full cycles.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

iBoto Smart Aqua X420GW Series — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 14.4V 3400mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original pack in the iBoto Smart Aqua X420GW, Smart C820W Aqua, and Smart L920SW Aqua robotic vacuums. All three models run the same 14.4V power rail with a matched connector and BMS profile. Capacity is 3400mAh (48.96Wh), sourced to match the factory specification.

  • X420GW, C820W Aqua, L920SW Aqua compatibility: These three models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. Swapping between them does not require any firmware change or adapter — the pack seats and communicates the same way across all three.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a matched iBoto platform. The BMS held the correct cutoff thresholds at both the high and low voltage limits, and the charger handshake completed without fault codes.
  • Dock charging habit on these robots: Do not leave the robot sitting on the charging dock continuously between uses. These iBoto models use a trickle-top-off circuit that accelerates cell degradation when the pack is held at full charge indefinitely. Charge to full, then remove from dock until the next scheduled clean.

Suction dropping on the X420GW before the battery indicator shows low

The X420GW uses suction motor load as a proxy for floor type, but a partially blocked filter forces the motor to draw current above its rated band. The BMS reads this as a voltage sag event and reduces power delivery to protect the cells, which the user experiences as a suction drop — not a low battery. The indicator stays green because cell voltage hasn't hit the low threshold yet. Clean the filter first; if suction restores at the same charge level, the battery is not the cause.

Robot cuts out mid-cycle and restarts after sitting for a few seconds

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a cell failure. When the suction path is restricted — blocked brush roll, clogged inlet, or a saturated wet-cleaning pad — motor current spikes sharply. The BMS trips the output to protect the cells, the robot stops, and once the BMS resets internally the unit powers back on. Clear the restriction completely, then check that resting pack voltage is above 12.0V before concluding the battery is at fault.

Frequently Asked Questions

My iBoto Smart Aqua X420GW loses suction well before the battery light turns red — is the battery going bad?

Not necessarily. When the filter or brush roll is even partially blocked, the suction motor pulls more current than rated, and the BMS throttles power output to keep cell voltage stable. That reads as suction loss, but the battery indicator stays green because the cells themselves haven't sagged below threshold. Clean the filter and clear the brush roll first — if suction returns at the same charge level, the battery is fine.

The robot keeps cutting out for a few seconds then restarting on its own — what's causing that?

That stop-start pattern is a BMS overcurrent trip recovering. A blockage in the inlet, a saturated wet pad, or a jammed brush roll causes a current spike the BMS treats as a fault condition, so it cuts the output and resets. It is not a sign of a failing cell. Clear the restriction, then check that resting pack voltage reads above 12.0V with a multimeter before suspecting the battery.

The replacement battery fades much faster than expected after only a few weeks — what went wrong?

Continuous dock charging is the most common cause of early capacity fade on these iBoto models. The dock holds the pack at full charge using a trickle circuit, which stresses Li-ion cells and compresses usable capacity over repeated cycles. Remove the robot from the dock once charging is complete and only return it when the battery is depleted. Doing this consistently will preserve usable capacity significantly longer than leaving it docked permanently.
