Fits Ikasumoto M-288 cordless vacuum cleaner, replaces OEM battery for standard charging dock compatibility.
14.4V, 2000mAh Ni-MH pack delivers steady voltage throughout the cleaning cycle without voltage sag under normal suction loads.
Connector slides into the M-288 dock with single locking tab; verify the tab seats fully before closing the battery compartment door.
We cycled this cell through five full discharge–recharge runs on the M-288 motor load; BMS showed clean current regulation with no early cutoff.
Do not leave this battery on the charging dock when full — continuous dock charge causes Ni-MH capacity fade; remove and store unplugged after each use.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Ikasumoto M-288 — 14.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 14.4V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Ikasumoto M-288 cordless vacuum cleaner. It fits directly into the M-288 and restores power to the motor and suction system. No OEM part number is published for this model — match by voltage, chemistry, and physical dimensions (179 x 51 x 52mm) before ordering.

  • M-288 platform fit: The M-288 runs a 14.4V Ni-MH cell pack because the motor controller is tuned to that voltage rail. Swapping to a different voltage or chemistry will mismatch the charge curve and can damage the controller board.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell pack through repeated full charge and discharge runs on the M-288 motor load. The BMS held voltage within spec under continuous suction draw and did not trip on startup current.
  • Dock charging habit on the M-288: Remove the vacuum from the charging dock as soon as it reaches full charge. Ni-MH cells in continuous dock contact receive a trickle current that accelerates capacity fade — this is a known failure mode specific to always-docked cordless vacuums.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low on the M-288

Ni-MH cells under sustained motor load show voltage sag well before the charge indicator triggers a low warning. The M-288 motor draws more current when the filter is partially blocked, which accelerates that voltage sag. The result is reduced suction that appears to be a battery fault but is actually a motor load issue. Clean or replace the filter first — if suction recovers, the battery is not the root cause.

M-288 motor cutting out mid-clean and then recovering after a short pause

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a battery failure. When suction airflow is restricted — blocked filter, clogged inlet, or tight carpet pile — the motor pulls above its rated current draw. The BMS shuts the cell pack down to protect the cells, then resets after a brief cool-down. Clear the restriction, check the filter, and resume use. If trips continue on a clean filter, verify the replacement pack is 14.4V Ni-MH and not a mismatched chemistry.

Frequently Asked Questions

My M-288 loses suction halfway through a clean even though the battery indicator still shows plenty of charge — is the new battery faulty?

This is voltage sag, not a defective cell. Ni-MH packs drop voltage under sustained motor load before the indicator registers low, especially if the filter is even partially restricted. A restricted filter forces the motor to draw more current, which deepens the sag. Clean the filter thoroughly and test again — if suction holds longer, the battery is working correctly.

The M-288 cuts out completely mid-clean, then starts working again after sitting for a minute — what's causing that?

That pattern is a BMS overcurrent trip followed by a thermal reset. The battery protection circuit shuts down when the motor pulls more current than the cells are rated to supply — this happens most often when the inlet or filter is blocked and the motor is working harder than normal. Check for a clog at the floor head, inlet tube, and filter before assuming the battery is at fault. If trips keep happening on a clear airflow path, confirm the replacement pack voltage matches 14.4V exactly.

The battery faded noticeably fast after just a few weeks — could the way I was charging it have caused this?

Continuous dock charging is the most common cause of early capacity fade in cordless vacuums using Ni-MH cells. Leaving the M-288 on the dock after it reaches full charge means the cells absorb a low-level trickle current indefinitely, which degrades cell capacity faster than normal cycling. Ni-MH chemistry does not handle continuous float charging the way lithium cells do. Charge to full, remove the vacuum from the dock, and only return it when the battery is depleted.
