Fits Nokia N4 smartphones; replaces OEM battery I736.
3.7V, 1700mAh lithium-ion cell restores full talk and standby time on N4 devices.
Connector matches original N4 battery slot; no modifications needed for secure seating.
Bench testing showed clean BMS handshake on first insertion; fuel gauge IC requires recalibration cycle.
On first charge after installation, complete one full discharge-to-shutdown cycle before using fast charging — this lets the phone's coulomb counter recalibrate against the new cell's discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

KNmobile I736 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V, 1700mAh (6.29Wh) lithium-ion cell from KNmobile's X-Longer series. It fits the Nokia N4 and replaces the original I736 battery. Use it when the original cell no longer holds a charge or the phone shuts down unexpectedly under load.

  • Nokia N4 fit: The I736 form factor — 66.20 × 44.00 × 5.10mm — matches the Nokia N4 battery bay directly. The connector pinout and BMS handshake align with the N4's charge controller, so the phone recognises the cell and applies the correct charge curve.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on the bench. The BMS responded correctly to charge termination, and the protection circuit tripped cleanly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold — no runaway or false shutdown above 3.0V.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle. This lets the Nokia N4's fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging begins on an uncalibrated cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Nokia N4 after a cell swap

This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still using the discharge curve from the old, degraded cell. The new cell has a steeper voltage cliff at different state-of-charge points, so the IC miscalculates remaining capacity. When the modem fires or the screen peaks in brightness, the cell voltage drops briefly below the shutdown threshold — even though the reported percentage says 25%. One full discharge-to-charge cycle resets the coulomb counter and maps the correct voltage curve to the new cell.

OS reporting wrong battery percentage after replacement

The Nokia N4's fuel gauge IC retains the learned discharge profile from the previous cell. After swapping in a fresh 1700mAh cell, the percentage can jump erratically or read higher than actual. This is a calibration issue, not a fault with the replacement cell. Drain the battery until the phone shuts off automatically, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — after one full cycle the gauge IC recalibrates to the new cell and readings stabilise.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Nokia N4 won't turn on at all after the new battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is the cell dead?

The BMS has locked out the cell due to deep discharge below the 2.5V protection threshold. Connect the phone to a low-current charger (a standard 5V USB wall adapter, not a fast charger) and leave it for 15–20 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC trickle-charges the cell back above the BMS recovery threshold, typically around 2.9V, at which point the phone will boot normally.

Fast charging stopped working on my Nokia N4 after I installed the replacement battery — the phone only charges slowly now.

On the first cycle after a cell swap, the charge controller may fall back to standard charge rates because the BMS on the new cell has not yet completed a handshake with the phone's USB charge negotiation logic. Run one full charge at the slower rate without interrupting it. On the second cycle, plug in the original fast charger — the handshake completes after the first full cycle and fast charging resumes at normal current.

The Nokia N4 feels warm near the battery compartment while charging the new cell — is that normal?

A new cell typically has slightly higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, which generates more heat during the initial charge cycles. The warmth is expected and reduces after two or three full cycles as impedance drops. If the phone becomes hot to the touch — above uncomfortable to hold — stop the charge and check that the charge IC is not stuck in a fast-charge mode while the BMS is still in first-cycle calibration. Charge at standard 5V/1A for the first cycle to keep thermals in check.
