Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Lawnbott Lb75 / Lb1200 Series — 25.2V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 25.2V 6900mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Lawnbott Lb75, Lb1200, Lb1200 Spyder Ka, Lb1500, and 17 additional Lawnbott robotic mower models. It slots into the same bay as the original pack and communicates with the mower's onboard BMS. Capacity is 6900mAh — use that figure when comparing to your worn-out original.

  • Lb75 and Lb1200 series compatibility: These models share the same 25.2V battery platform, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One pack covers the full range because the motor controller draws from the same voltage rail across all of them.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full charge and discharge sequences, monitoring BMS cutoff thresholds and cell balancing behaviour under simulated blade-motor inrush loads. The protection circuit responded correctly to overcurrent events without false trips.
  • Seasonal storage care: If the mower is stored over winter, remove the battery and bring it indoors. Robotic mower batteries left in a cold garage can self-discharge below 20V over several months — at that level, many chargers will refuse the pack entirely until cells are manually recovered.

BMS cutoff during thick-grass or wet-grass mowing runs

The Lb75 blade motor draws a sharp inrush current each time the blades hit dense or wet grass. If the pack's state of charge is already low — below roughly 30% — internal resistance rises enough that this spike pushes the BMS over its overcurrent threshold and it trips the output. The mower stops, returns to base, or sits unresponsive for a short period. Keeping the pack charged above 50% before each mowing session reduces the frequency of these trips significantly.

Charger showing a fault light after the mower sat unused all winter

Li-ion packs self-discharge slowly in storage — over a full winter, a Lawnbott battery can drop below 20V per pack. Most chargers reject anything under their minimum acceptance voltage and display a fault or error light immediately on connection. This is not charger failure and it is not a dead battery. Connect the pack to a Li-ion recovery charger or a charger with a "wake" or "recovery" mode, which applies a trickle current to bring cells back above the acceptance threshold — typically around 21V — before switching to normal charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Lawnbott cuts out halfway through a row, then starts working again after a few minutes — what's happening?

This is thermal protection triggering in the BMS, not a faulty battery. The blade motor builds heat during sustained operation, especially in long grass or warm weather, and the BMS shuts output to protect the cells. A 5-minute cooldown at the charging station resets the protection circuit. If it happens repeatedly on short runs, check that the mower's underside vents and blade housing are clear of packed grass clippings, which trap heat near the battery bay.

The new battery feels noticeably warmer than my old one after a mowing session — is something wrong?

New Li-ion cells run warmer than a degraded pack during the first several charge and discharge cycles. A worn battery has higher internal resistance but lower current draw, so it generates less heat in use. A fresh 6900mAh pack moves more current through lower-resistance cells, which produces more heat — this is normal cell conditioning behaviour. It typically settles after 4 to 5 full cycles and should not be warm to the point of discomfort when held.

First mow of spring and the Lawnbott is cutting out far sooner than expected — battery fault or something else?

Cold Li-ion cells have higher internal resistance, which reduces usable capacity and makes the BMS more likely to trip under blade-motor load. If the battery has been stored in an unheated garage or shed, its effective capacity at 5–8°C can be noticeably lower than at room temperature. Bring the battery indoors and leave it at 18–20°C overnight before the first spring mowing session. Once the cells are at room temperature, charge fully before use — the runtime drop should disappear.
