Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

This happens when motor voltage sags under load before the cell is actually depleted. On the E1-L, a partially blocked filter forces the motor to draw current beyond its rated envelope. The BMS reads that overcurrent draw and steps down the output voltage to protect the cells — suction drops, but the indicator still shows charge remaining. Clean the filter first, then retest. If suction stays strong through a full cycle after cleaning, the filter was the cause, not the battery.

Motor cuts out mid-clean and then recovers after a short pause

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. Sustained restricted airflow — from a blocked nozzle or a clogged HEPA filter — causes the motor to spike current demand sharply. The BMS trips to protect the cells, the vacuum cuts out, and it recovers once the BMS resets after a few seconds of no load. Clear the blockage and check the filter condition. If the cut-outs stop after clearing the restriction, the battery and BMS are functioning correctly — no replacement needed.
