Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Lenovo ThinkPad E590 / E490 / E580 Series — 11.1V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (L17C3P51)
This is an 11.1V, 4050mAh (44.96Wh) Li-Polymer battery for the Lenovo ThinkPad E490, E490s, E580, E585, and E590 series laptops. It replaces OEM part numbers including L17C3P51, L17M3P51, L17M3P52, L17M3P53, L17M3P54, 01AV446, 01AV448, SB10K97607, SB10K97609, and SB10T83130 among others. Voltage and connector match the original cell exactly.
- E-series ThinkPad platform fit: The E490, E580, E585, and E590 share the same three-cell Li-Polymer battery architecture, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol — which is why Lenovo released multiple OEM part numbers (L17C3P51 through L17M3P54) that all cross-reference the same physical cell.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a ThinkPad E590 and confirmed the BMS handshake completed on first boot, charge current accepted normally through the full range, and the BIOS battery status page populated without error flags.
- Post-install discharge cycle on ThinkPad E-series: After fitting this cell, run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.
BIOS reporting battery health as "poor" immediately after replacement
When a new cell is installed in the ThinkPad E-series, the BIOS reads EEPROM data that was written for the old, degraded cell. The health status is calculated against that stored history, not the physical capacity of the new cell. Until the firmware runs a full learn cycle — discharge to cutoff, then a complete uninterrupted charge — it treats the new cell as another degraded one. After one or two complete cycles, the BIOS recalibrates and the health warning clears.
Laptop shuts down at 20–30% remaining shown on screen
This happens because the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual voltage curve. The percentage shown is based on the old cell's discharge profile, so the OS calls shutdown long before the cell is actually empty. The new cell hits a voltage cliff under combined CPU and display load that the uncalibrated gauge cannot predict accurately. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate and full-recharge cycles — after that, the fuel gauge IC maps the new curve and the early shutdowns stop.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is my ThinkPad E590 showing the replacement battery as "0%" or "unknown" right after install?
The BIOS reads EEPROM data stored from the previous cell — if that data is corrupt or mismatched, it reports the new cell as unrecognised or at 0%. This is a firmware calibration issue, not a fault with the battery. Boot into the Lenovo Vantage app or BIOS battery settings and initiate a battery gauge reset, then run a full discharge to hibernate-cutoff followed by a complete charge to 100%.
The system info shows this battery at the wrong Wh rating — it says something different from 44.96Wh. Is the cell defective?
No. The Wh figure shown in Windows Device Manager or Lenovo Vantage is pulled from the EEPROM on the cell, which stores the rated design capacity. Until the fuel gauge IC logs at least one full calibration cycle on the new cell, the reported Wh can differ from the actual 44.96Wh spec. Run one complete discharge-to-hibernate then a full uninterrupted charge — after that cycle, the reported figure should align with the cell's actual rated capacity.
New battery charges normally but stops at 80% and won't go higher — what's blocking it?
Lenovo's BIOS includes a "Conservation Mode" charge limit that caps charging at 80% to reduce long-term cell stress. It is not a battery fault. Open Lenovo Vantage, go to Power → Battery Settings, and switch from "Conservation Mode" to "Normal Mode" — the charge ceiling will lift to 100% immediately on the next charge cycle.
