Fits Midland H3 and H5 action cameras, replacing OEM 3.7V lithium-ion cells that power video and photo capture.
3.7V 900mAh delivers 3.33Wh for extended recording sessions; sufficient capacity matches original pack output on both models.
Connector type slides straight into camera battery slot with vertical orientation; locking tab seats flush against camera body frame.
We bench-tested the BMS on first insertion in an H3 body — voltage regulation held steady through full discharge cycle, no early cutoff events.
On first use, charge this cell fully inside the H3 camera body itself rather than external charger; the camera BMS needs one internal charge cycle to map the new cell's discharge curve and display accurate remaining battery percentage.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Midland H3 / H5 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V 900mAh (3.33Wh) lithium-ion cell replaces the internal battery in the Midland H3 and H5 action cameras. Both models use the same compact cell format — 32.77 × 29.16 × 10.89mm — and share the same voltage rail. If the original battery no longer holds a charge or the camera shuts down mid-recording, this cell is a direct swap.

  • H3 and H5 compatibility: Both cameras run the same 3.7V single-cell architecture with identical connector pinout and physical footprint. One cell fits both bodies without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the Midland camera body and monitored the BMS handshake on first charge. The cell accepted a full charge cycle without cutoff events, and the protection circuit responded correctly to overdischarge simulation.
  • First-install charge protocol: Insert the new cell and run a complete charge cycle through the camera body or OEM charger before shooting. Some Midland camera firmware requires this cycle to map the new cell's discharge curve and display battery level accurately.

Why the H3 battery indicator jumps erratically after a cell swap

The H3 maps battery percentage against a fixed voltage-threshold table calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve. A fresh replacement cell discharges at a slightly different rate until it has been cycled once or twice. During that break-in period, the camera may report 80% one moment and drop to 20% shortly after. This is a firmware mapping issue, not a cell fault. Run two full charge-discharge cycles through the camera body and the indicator will track correctly against the new cell's actual curve.

Camera shuts off mid-recording even with a recently charged cell

Sustained 1080p video recording draws continuous current from the sensor, image processor, and stabilisation system simultaneously. Under that combined load, a partially degraded or improperly seated cell can sag below the BMS undervoltage cutoff threshold — typically around 3.0V on Midland's protection circuit — triggering an abrupt shutdown. Check the cell is fully seated and the contacts are clean. Charge to full, then verify the cell voltage reads at or above 4.1V before recording a long session.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Midland H3 shows a dead battery icon immediately after I put in the new cell — is the battery dead on arrival?

Almost certainly not. The H3 firmware can reject a new cell on first insert if it hasn't completed a charge cycle from within the camera body or OEM charger. Place the new battery in the camera, connect to the charger, and let it run a full charge to 100% before powering on. After that cycle, the camera should recognise the cell and display a normal charge level.

The battery percentage on my H3 drops from 60% to 5% with no warning — what's causing that?

This is a discharge-curve mismatch. The camera's indicator maps percentage against voltage thresholds set for the original factory cell. A new replacement cell discharges along a slightly different curve until it's been broken in. Run two complete charge-discharge cycles through the camera body. After that, the firmware's voltage-to-percentage mapping aligns to the new cell and the display stabilises.

My H3 records far fewer clips than it used to even with a fresh charge — what's draining it faster?

Cold ambient temperatures are the most common hidden cause. Lithium-ion cells lose usable capacity below 10°C as internal resistance rises, and the H3's processor and sensor draw doesn't decrease to compensate. The result is a shorter recording window even when the cell shows full charge. Keep a spare cell in an inside pocket when shooting in cold conditions, and swap cells when the camera body cools — a warmer cell will immediately restore normal output.
