Fits SkyCam Pro 8000i and Pro 9500i cameras, replacing the original 3.7V 900mAh cell.
3.7V 900mAh lithium-ion delivers 3.33Wh; powers imaging and recording functions at rated capacity.
Connector type and orientation match OEM housing; physical dimensions 32.77 x 29.16 x 10.89mm.
We bench-tested the BMS on multiple charge cycles; voltage regulation held steady through discharge.
After first install, run one full charge cycle in the camera body before extended shooting — the SkyCam BMS requires one internal charge cycle to map the new cell's discharge curve to battery-remaining display.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

SkyCam Pro 8000i / Pro 9500i — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V 900mAh (3.33Wh) lithium-ion cell replaces the original battery in the SkyCam Pro 8000i and Pro 9500i cameras. Both models run the same battery bay dimensions and voltage rail, so one cell covers the pair. Swap it in when the original no longer holds a charge or the camera refuses to power on.

  • Pro 8000i and Pro 9500i fit: Both cameras share the same 3.7V single-cell architecture, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol — that is why one battery covers both. The voltage rail feeds the imaging sensor, processor, and recording circuits from a common source.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell without a reject flag. Voltage at full charge held at 4.18V, within the expected ceiling for this chemistry.
  • First-install charge cycle: Insert the new cell and charge it fully inside the camera body or OEM charger before your first shoot. Some camera BMS systems only map the battery-remaining display correctly after completing one charge cycle from within the camera itself.

Flash output dropping mid-shoot on a new camera battery

When the flash fires repeatedly, the capacitor recharge circuit pulls a short burst of high current from the cell. A new cell with an uncalibrated BMS can interpret this spike as a fault and briefly throttle output. The result is a longer recycle time or a visibly weaker flash burst. One full charge-discharge cycle usually lets the BMS map the cell's actual discharge curve and removes the throttle.

Battery percentage jumping erratically on the Pro 8000i display

The camera's fuel gauge maps voltage thresholds to percentage steps calibrated for the original cell's discharge curve. A replacement cell with a slightly different curve hits those voltage thresholds at different points in its discharge, so the percentage reading jumps rather than stepping down smoothly. This is a display calibration issue, not a fault with the cell itself. Run two full charge-discharge cycles inside the camera body and the indicator will stabilise.

Frequently Asked Questions

My SkyCam Pro 8000i shows "no battery" or won't recognise the new cell — what's happening?

The camera's BMS runs an authentication check on first install and occasionally rejects a new cell before it has seen a charge cycle. Insert the battery, connect the camera to the OEM charger or a known-good USB source, and let it charge to full without powering the camera on. After one complete charge cycle the BMS registers the cell and the error clears.

Shot count on the Pro 9500i is lower than I expected — is the cell faulty?

Rated shot counts are measured under controlled conditions with flash disabled and minimal screen use. In real shooting, the EVF, continuous autofocus, image stabilisation, and any video recording all draw current simultaneously, well above the spec test load. The cell is performing correctly — the rated figure simply does not reflect mixed-use draw. Turn off stabilisation when shooting static subjects and reduce screen brightness to extend the charge between swaps.

The Pro 8000i body gets noticeably warm during video recording and the battery drains faster — is that normal?

Sustained video recording stacks sensor readout, image processing, and stabilisation current draw on top of each other, which is significantly higher than still-photo draw. The cell delivers that combined load, and the heat you feel comes from the processor and sensor, not a fault in the battery. Drain is faster because the total system draw is higher — not because the cell is underperforming. Keep recording sessions under ten minutes in warm ambient conditions to stay within the thermal comfort range of the camera body.
