Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Motorola EVX-531 / VX-261 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (AAJ67X001)
This 7.4V, 3350mAh lithium-ion battery replaces the Motorola AAJ67X001, AAJ68X001, AAK66X501, FNB-V133Li, FNB-V134Li, and FNB-V138Li packs. It fits the EVX-531, EVX-534, EVX-539, and VX-261 series two-way radios. The pack slots into the standard battery bay and presents the correct voltage profile for each platform's BMS to accept.
- EVX-531 / VX-261 platform compatibility: These models share a 7.4V nominal voltage rail and the same physical connector pinout. The BMS handshake protocol is identical across this radio family, so one pack covers all listed models without any pin adapter or firmware conflict.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through full charge and transmit cycles on the EVX-531. The BMS held steady through repeated PTT current spikes, and the charger dock accepted the pack without a fault LED on the first insertion.
- Contact strip check on first dock insertion: If the charger dock shows a fault LED on first insertion, remove the battery, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The EVX and VX platform requires a clean contact cycle to complete the BMS handshake before charging will begin.
Why the EVX-531 cuts out mid-transmission on a new battery
New lithium-ion cells ship at storage voltage — typically 3.6–3.7V per cell, not full charge. When you key up on a new pack straight out of the box, the transmit current surge can push the BMS to trip an overcurrent cutoff before the cells are conditioned. The radio then drops the RF output or cuts out entirely. Run a full charge cycle before the first shift to bring both cells to 4.2V and let the BMS calibrate its protection thresholds properly.
Bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected on a fresh pack
The EVX-531 reads voltage thresholds to display battery bars — it does not measure actual cell capacity. A new pack sitting at storage voltage reads lower than a fully charged pack, so the radio displays one fewer bar than you'd expect. This is not a faulty cell. Charge the battery fully until the dock LED goes solid green, then reinsert — the bar indicator will reflect the correct full-charge voltage of 8.4V across the pack.

Frequently Asked Questions
My EVX-531 cuts out when I press PTT on a brand new battery — is the pack defective?
It is not defective. New Li-ion cells ship at storage voltage, around 3.6–3.7V per cell, and the transmit current spike on PTT can trip the BMS overcurrent cutoff before the cells are at full charge. Charge the pack completely before first use — the dock LED should go solid green. Once both cells reach 4.2V, the BMS protection thresholds stabilise and the PTT cutout stops.
The charger dock is blinking a fault LED and never starts charging the new battery — what is happening?
The dock is failing to complete the BMS handshake because of a poor contact cycle on first insertion. Remove the battery, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat it firmly into the dock. If the fault LED persists, the pack may have dropped below the dock's acceptance voltage threshold during storage — leave it seated for 10 minutes and the dock will typically begin a recovery charge once the BMS presents a voltage above 6.0V.
Radio drops to noticeably weaker TX output during extended shifts — battery or radio fault?
This is voltage sag, not a radio fault. Under sustained RF output, the pack voltage drops under load and the EVX-531 reduces transmit power to stay within its operating window. It happens faster when the cells are partially discharged. Check the bar indicator — if you are below two bars, swap the pack. A fully charged 3350mAh pack sustains the EVX-531's transmit voltage rail through a full shift without triggering the power reduction.
