Fits Kenwood NX-200S, NX-210, NX-300S, and NX-410 radios; replaces OEM KNB-33L, KNB-41NC, and KNB-54N battery packs.
7.4V lithium-ion at 3350mAh delivers steady voltage under sustained RF transmission without midshift power sag on this compact platform.
Gold contact strip aligns vertically into the radio's dock slot with a single-pin locking tab that seats flush when inserted fully.
We bench-tested this cell in an NX-210 under continuous PTT load; BMS accepted the pack on first dock insertion without fault indication.
If your charger dock shows a fault LED after inserting this battery, remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly — the Kenwood platform requires a clean contact cycle to accept the new BMS handshake before charging begins.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Kenwood NX-200S / NX-300S Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (KNB-33L)

This is a 7.4V, 3350mAh Li-ion replacement battery for Kenwood NX-series two-way radios. It fits the NX-200S, NX-210, NX-300S, and NX-410, among others. OEM part numbers covered include KNB-33L, KNB-41NC, and KNB-54N.

  • NX-200S / NX-210 / NX-300S / NX-410 platform fit: These models share the same 7.4V battery rail, connector footprint, and BMS handshake protocol. One pack works across the group without modification or adapter.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through full charge and PTT load cycles on NX-series hardware. The BMS handled transmit current spikes without triggering overcurrent cutoff, and the charger dock accepted the pack on first insertion.
  • Contact strip care on first dock insertion: If the charger dock shows a fault LED on first insertion, remove the battery, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The Kenwood dock requires a clean contact cycle to complete the BMS handshake before charging begins.

Why the NX-200S cuts out mid-transmission on a new battery

During PTT, the NX-200S draws a sharp current spike — often 1.5A to 2A above standby draw — as the RF amplifier fires. A new cell shipped at storage voltage (around 3.6V–3.7V per cell) has higher internal impedance than a fully cycled cell. Under that transmit spike, the BMS reads the voltage drop as an overcurrent event and trips the protection circuit. The fix is straightforward: charge the pack fully to 8.4V before the first transmission shift, and the BMS will pass the spike without cutting out.

Bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected on a new KNB-33L

The NX-series bar indicator reads voltage thresholds — it does not track stored energy. A new pack arrives at shipping storage voltage, which sits below the top threshold, so the radio displays one bar short of full even with a freshly inserted cell. This is not a capacity fault. Run a complete charge cycle to 8.4V, let the pack rest for ten minutes off the charger, then reinsert — the indicator will display correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions

My NX-200S drops to low TX power partway through a long shift — is the new KNB-33L pack faulty?

This is voltage sag under sustained RF output, not a faulty pack. As the cell discharges past roughly 7.0V under load, the radio's firmware steps down transmit power to protect the final-stage amplifier. It's normal behaviour on this platform. Keep a second charged pack on your belt for shifts longer than a single charge cycle.

The charger dock blinks a fault LED and never starts charging after I insert the new battery — what's wrong?

The Kenwood dock checks for a minimum pack voltage before it will initiate a charge cycle. If the cell arrived deep in storage, it may sit below that acceptance threshold. Remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and firmly reseat it — a poor contact mimics a low-voltage read. If the fault LED persists after reseating, leave the pack in the dock for 15 minutes; most Kenwood chargers have a recovery trickle mode that will bring the cell up to acceptance voltage before switching to full charge.

The NX-410 cuts out the moment I press PTT — radio was working fine before the battery swap

A hard BMS trip on PTT is almost always the new cell at storage voltage hitting the overcurrent threshold during the transmit current spike. Storage voltage on a Li-ion cell is roughly 3.6V–3.7V per cell, which means higher internal impedance and a steeper voltage drop under load. Charge the KNB-33L to a full 8.4V before use, then retry PTT — the impedance drops after a full charge cycle and the BMS will pass the spike cleanly.
