Fits Yaesu EVX-530, EVX-531, EVX-534, EVX-539 series radios; replaces OEM part AAJ67X001.
7.4V 3350mAh Li-ion delivers sustained transmit power across full shift without mid-transmission sag.
Slides into radio battery slot with positive terminal forward; locking tab seats flush against radio chassis.
Pack tested on EVX-531 bench unit; BMS accepted first charge cycle without dock fault light.
On first insertion into the charger dock, if fault LED shows, remove battery and wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, then reseat firmly—Vertex platform needs a clean contact cycle before the BMS handshake completes.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Yaesu EVX-530 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (AAJ67X001)

This 7.4V 3350mAh Li-ion battery replaces the AAJ67X001 pack used in Yaesu EVX-530, EVX-531, EVX-534, and EVX-539 digital two-way radios. It slots into the same bay and connects through the same multi-pin contact strip as the original. Capacity is drawn from product data: 3350mAh (24.79Wh).

  • EVX-530 Series compatibility: The EVX-530, EVX-531, EVX-534, and EVX-539 share a common battery bay, contact pin layout, and BMS handshake protocol. All four models run the same 7.4V voltage rail, so one pack covers the full platform without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through transmit loads matching EVX-series RF output draw. The BMS held the voltage rail steady through sustained PTT events and tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold without nuisance shutdowns.
  • First insertion into the charger dock: If the dock LED shows a fault on initial seating, remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The EVX platform requires a clean contact cycle to complete the BMS handshake before charging begins — this is not a faulty pack.

Why the EVX-530 cuts out mid-transmission on a new AAJ67X001 pack

A new cell ships at storage voltage — typically 3.6–3.7V per cell, not full charge. When PTT is pressed, transmit current spikes sharply. If the pack hasn't completed its first full charge cycle, that spike can pull the cell voltage below the BMS overcurrent threshold, triggering an immediate shutdown. The fix is simple: charge the pack fully before the first field use. After the first complete charge, the BMS calibrates its operating window to the actual cell capacity and transmit spikes are handled without cutoff.

Bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected on a fresh pack

The EVX-series radio reads voltage thresholds to drive the bar indicator — it is not a fuel gauge chip. A pack at storage voltage (around 7.2–7.4V resting) sits below the threshold for a full bar display, so the radio shows one bar short even with a brand-new cell inside. This is a voltage-threshold display behaviour, not a capacity defect. Charge the pack to full (8.4V at the terminals) and the indicator will read correctly on next power-on.

Frequently Asked Questions

The EVX-530 drops to low TX power partway through a shift — is the new battery causing this?

Yes, this is voltage sag under sustained RF output. As transmit current climbs during repeated PTT cycles, the cell voltage dips momentarily, and the radio's power management steps down TX output to protect the voltage rail. It is more pronounced on a new pack that hasn't completed a full charge cycle. Charge the AAJ67X001 to 8.4V before use and run one full discharge-recharge cycle to seat the cells properly.

The charger dock LED never clears to green — it just blinks continuously with the new pack inserted.

A continuously blinking dock LED usually means the pack voltage is below the dock's acceptance threshold — common when a new pack arrives at storage voltage rather than full charge. The dock interprets sub-threshold voltage as a fault condition and won't initiate a normal charge cycle. Remove the pack, wipe the gold contacts with a dry cloth, reseat firmly, and hold it in place for three seconds on reinsertion. If the LED still blinks, check that the dock itself reads 8.4V output on a multimeter before concluding the pack is at fault.

The EVX-531 won't power on at all after the new battery sat unused for several weeks — BMS lockout?

Extended storage can push cell voltage below the BMS recovery threshold, causing a lockout where the radio won't power on and the charger dock shows no activity. Place the pack in the dock and leave it undisturbed for 20–30 minutes — most EVX-compatible chargers run a low-current recovery pulse before switching to normal charge. If the dock shows no response after 30 minutes, measure the pack voltage at the contact strip; anything below 6.0V indicates a deep-discharge condition requiring a recovery charger with a boost or wake mode.
