Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Moultrie Edge Series — 10.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (MMA-14109 / MMA-14128)
This is a 10.8V 5000mAh Li-ion battery for the Moultrie Edge, Edge 2, Edge 2 Pro, and Edge Pro trail cameras. It replaces OEM parts MMA-14109 and MMA-14128. At 54Wh, it carries enough capacity to keep the camera cycling through image capture, video bursts, and cellular transmission between field visits.
- Edge and Edge Pro compatibility: All four models in this lineup share the same 10.8V battery architecture, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. Swapping between Edge and Edge Pro units requires no adapter or wiring change.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this battery through full charge and discharge cycles on an Edge 2 Pro. The BMS held voltage within spec across simulated cold and warm ambient temps, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold without requiring a manual reset.
- Cold-weather field prep: Li-ion cells lose 15–25% usable capacity at 0°C and up to 40% at -20°C. Keep this battery in an inner pocket during transit to the field and install it just before mounting the camera — a warm cell going into a cold enclosure retains far more capacity than one that has been sitting in a frozen truck bed.
Why the Edge camera drains faster once overnight temperatures drop below freezing
Li-ion chemistry slows the electrochemical reaction at low temperatures, which directly reduces the number of electrons the cell can deliver per cycle. The Edge camera's cellular transmission bursts draw peak current, and a cold cell sags under that load more than a warm one does. The BMS reads the voltage sag as low charge and may trigger an early cutoff even when the cell still holds usable energy. Warming the battery to room temperature before deployment recovers most of that lost capacity — the chemistry hasn't degraded, it was just cold.
Camera won't boot after sitting unused through a cold season
If the Edge camera was stored outdoors or in an unheated space for several months, the battery may have self-discharged below the BMS minimum boot voltage — typically around 9V for a 10.8V Li-ion pack. The BMS locks the output rail at that threshold to prevent cell damage, so the camera gets no power at all. Bring the battery indoors and connect it to a charger; many chargers include a recovery or trickle mode that can bring a deeply discharged cell back above the re-enable threshold. If the charger shows a charge accepted and voltage climbs above 10V, the pack should recover and the camera will boot normally.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Moultrie Edge is taking far fewer photos per charge than it used to — the battery isn't old, what's happening?
Shallow cycling is likely the cause. Li-ion cells that are repeatedly charged from 80% down to 20% without full cycles can develop a narrow active voltage band, which the BMS interprets as lower usable capacity. Run two full discharge-to-charge cycles: let the camera draw the battery down to the low-voltage cutoff, then charge it completely to 100%. This recalibrates the BMS charge tracking and often recovers a significant portion of reported capacity.
After leaving the camera deployed through a wet week, the battery compartment had condensation and now the camera won't recognise the battery — what do I check?
Moisture on the battery contacts causes resistance that the BMS reads as an open circuit, so it reports no battery present. Remove the battery and dry the contacts on both the battery and the camera compartment with a dry cloth — do not use compressed air, as it can push moisture further in. Check the rubber seal on the battery cover for cracks or debris before reseating it. Once contacts are clean and dry, reseat the battery firmly and confirm the cover seal is fully compressed before powering on.
The Moultrie Edge camera stops transmitting images overnight in winter but works fine during the day — is the battery failing?
This is a thermal performance issue, not a failed battery. Overnight temperatures drop the cell's output voltage under the peak-current draw of a cellular transmission burst, causing the BMS to cut the load before the transmission completes. The cell recovers as temperatures rise during the day, which is why daytime operation looks normal. To reduce overnight drop-outs, insulate the camera housing with a neoprene wrap on the battery compartment side, or switch to a deployment schedule that triggers transmissions during warmer daylight hours in the camera's settings.
