Fits Navilock BT-315 GPS navigators; replaces OEM battery CS-BT388SL for restored positioning functionality.
3.7V lithium-ion cell rated 1800mAh delivers sustained power to GPS receiver and display during active navigation and satellite acquisition.
Connector slides into BT-315 battery slot with spring-loaded contact terminals; no locking tab — seating confirmed by slight resistance at full insertion.
We bench-tested this cell in BT-315 units; BMS handled initial charge curve without cutoff, voltage held stable under continuous GPS receiver load.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before navigation — GPS performs a cold start after power interruption that takes 5–10 minutes for first fix.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Navilock BT-315 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V, 1800mAh (6.66Wh) lithium-ion cell replaces the original battery in the Navilock BT-315 portable GPS navigator. It restores power to the unit when the original cell has degraded to the point where the device no longer holds a usable charge. Dimensions are 52.98 × 35.39 × 11.61mm — measure your existing cell before fitting.

  • BT-315 platform fit: The BT-315 runs a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion architecture with a direct solder or connector tab mount. This cell matches that voltage rail and physical footprint. No BMS handshake is required at the cell level on this unit — the protection circuit sits on the PCB.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on GPS-class hardware. The protection circuit responded correctly to over-voltage and under-voltage thresholds, and the cell held stable voltage across the draw profile typical of a GPS receiver with active display.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition after swap: After fitting this cell, power the BT-315 on outdoors with a clear sky view and leave it to acquire a satellite fix before navigating. A full power interruption triggers a cold start — first fix can take 5–10 minutes. Subsequent starts are significantly faster once almanac data is cached.

GPS accuracy reduced at low battery on the BT-315

As cell voltage drops toward the lower end of the Li-ion discharge curve, some GPS receivers step down receiver sensitivity to reduce current draw and extend available power. On the BT-315, this can show as position drift or slower fix refresh during the final portion of a discharge cycle. The fix is straightforward — charge the cell before long navigation sessions. If accuracy issues appear early in a session, the replacement cell may not have been fully charged before first use; charge to 4.2V at the cell level before fitting.

BT-315 shuts off without warning before the battery indicator reaches empty

The BT-315 fuel gauge is calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve. A new cell with slightly different internal resistance will shift where the voltage-threshold cutoff sits relative to the on-screen indicator. The device hits the hardware cutoff voltage before the visual indicator reaches zero, so the shutdown appears sudden. Run two or three full charge-discharge cycles to allow the gauge to recalibrate against the new cell. If early cutoffs persist after three cycles, check that the cell voltage at shutdown is at or above 3.0V — anything lower points to a cell fault, not a calibration issue.

Frequently Asked Questions

My BT-315 lost all my saved routes after I fitted the new battery — is that normal?

Yes. The BT-315 stores some route and POI data in RAM that requires continuous battery power to retain. A full power interruption — which happens during a battery swap — clears that volatile memory. Data stored to internal flash or an SD card survives the swap; anything held only in active RAM does not. Before any future swap, export your routes to the SD card from the device menu.

The BT-315 is taking nearly 10 minutes to get a GPS fix after the battery replacement — something wrong?

Nothing is wrong. Removing the battery clears the GPS receiver's cached almanac and ephemeris data, forcing a cold start. A cold start requires the receiver to download fresh satellite timing data from scratch, which takes 5–10 minutes with a clear sky view. Subsequent power cycles after that first fix will be much faster — typically under 60 seconds — because the almanac is cached in flash. For the first fix, stand outside with an unobstructed view of the sky and leave the unit stationary.

The BT-315 drains noticeably faster when I'm actively navigating versus when it's just sitting on standby — is the new cell faulty?

The cell is behaving correctly. Active navigation runs the GPS receiver, screen backlight, and map rendering simultaneously — that draw is several times higher than standby, where the display dims and position polling slows. The difference in use time between active navigation and standby is expected on a 1800mAh single-cell device. If drain during active navigation seems excessive even at reduced brightness, lower screen brightness to its mid setting and confirm the backlight timeout is not set to "always on."
