Fits Globalstar BT-300 and BT-308 Bluetooth GPS receivers; replaces OEM battery BT-300.
3.7V 1000mAh Li-ion cell delivers full power for satellite navigation and two-way communication in field conditions.
Connector slides into the vertical battery slot with single locking tab; polarity marked on pack underside.
We bench-tested this cell on a BT-308 unit — BMS accepted the new pack on first insertion and held voltage stable across navigation cycles.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before use — GPS performs a cold start after power interruption that takes 5–10 minutes for first fix versus under a minute for subsequent warm starts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Globalstar BT-300 / BT-308 Bluetooth GPS Receiver — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V 1000mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in the Globalstar BT-300 and BT-308 Bluetooth GPS receivers. These are compact handheld units used for satellite positioning and tracking in remote field conditions. Capacity is 3.7Wh — matched to the original specification.

  • BT-300 and BT-308 platform fit: Both units share the same battery bay dimensions, voltage rail, and connector orientation. The BT-308 added Bluetooth output but kept the same power cell — one replacement covers both.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the BT-300 platform. The BMS held cutoff at the correct low-voltage threshold and accepted a full charge without fault flags from the device firmware.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition after swap: After fitting this cell, power the unit on outdoors and let it run until it acquires a full satellite fix before navigating. A full power interruption forces a cold start — first fix after a swap takes 5 to 10 minutes, compared to under a minute on a warm start once the almanac is rebuilt.

GPS accuracy reduced at low battery on the BT-300

When cell voltage drops below roughly 3.5V, the BT-300 reduces RF receiver sensitivity to protect remaining charge. This shows up as position drift or a weaker satellite signal count — not a firmware error. The receiver is deliberately throttling its draw. Keeping the cell above that threshold restores full signal acquisition performance.

Device shuts off without low-battery warning

The BT-300 battery indicator is calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve. A new cell — or one the unit hasn't profiled yet — can cause the indicator to read inaccurately for the first few cycles. The device hits its hardware voltage cutoff at 3.2V before the software indicator reaches the final warning bar. Run two or three full charge-to-cutoff cycles and the indicator will recalibrate to the new cell's curve.

Frequently Asked Questions

My BT-300 wiped all my saved routes when I swapped the battery — is there a way to get them back?

Saved routes and POIs on the BT-300 are held in battery-backed RAM, not flash storage. A full power removal — including the battery — clears that volatile memory completely. Once the memory is wiped, those routes cannot be recovered from the device itself. Before any future battery swap, export your routes to a connected PC using the Globalstar companion software.

After fitting this battery, my BT-300 is taking 10 minutes to find satellites — is that normal?

Yes — a full battery removal forces a cold start, which means the GPS almanac and ephemeris data are gone. The receiver has to download fresh orbital data from scratch, which takes 5 to 10 minutes with clear sky view. Subsequent power cycles will return to warm-start lock times of under a minute. Leave the unit stationary outdoors with an unobstructed sky for that first fix.

Active navigation is draining this battery noticeably faster than standby mode — what's drawing the extra power?

In active navigation the BT-300 runs the GPS receiver at full sensitivity, keeps the display on, and transmits position data over Bluetooth simultaneously. Standby cuts the receiver polling rate and dims or disables the display. The combined draw in active mode can be three to four times the standby draw. Reduce screen brightness and disable Bluetooth output when tracking-only mode is sufficient to extend operating time between charges.
