Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

NGM Forward Infinity — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BL-G021A)
This is a 3.7V, 2300mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the NGM Forward Infinity smartphone. It matches the original BL-G021A cell specification — same voltage, same form factor, same connector orientation. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds a useful charge or stops charging altogether.
- Forward Infinity fit: The BL-G021A footprint is specific to this handset — 71.50 × 58.53 × 4.60 mm with a three-contact connector that carries both power and pack temperature data to the charge IC. A mis-sized cell will either not seat or will skip the temperature check, which locks out charging entirely.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge under screen-on and modem-active loads. The BMS held cutoff voltage correctly at both ends, and the charge IC accepted the pack without throwing a fault on the first handshake.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle at standard rate. This gives the fuel gauge IC a clean reference curve against the new cell before high-current charging begins on an uncalibrated pack.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the NGM Forward Infinity after a cell swap
A new cell has a slightly different discharge curve than the worn cell the fuel gauge IC was calibrated against. At high-load moments — modem handoff, screen wake, GPS fix — the new cell's voltage dips below the shutdown threshold before the reported percentage suggests it should. The phone cuts power to protect the cell, even though the gauge says 20–30% remains. One full discharge-charge cycle at standard rate resets the coulomb counter and maps the new curve. After that cycle, reported percentage and actual cell state track closely again.
Fast charging not working on the first cycle after installing BL-G021A
On the first charge after a cell swap, the charge IC may refuse fast-charge mode and fall back to standard 5V/1A input. This happens because the IC re-checks pack impedance and temperature on the first connect and will not negotiate higher current until it has confirmed the new cell is within safe parameters. This is expected behaviour — not a fault with the replacement pack. Complete one full standard-rate charge cycle and fast charging will resume normally on subsequent sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions
My NGM Forward Infinity won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is the cell dead?
Most likely the cell discharged below 2.5V in storage, which triggers BMS lockout to prevent cell damage. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC needs to trickle current into the cell to lift it above the BMS re-enable threshold before normal boot is possible. If the charging indicator appears within that window, the cell is recovering; let it charge to at least 15% before attempting to power on.
The battery percentage on my Forward Infinity jumps around erratically — shows 60%, drops to 31%, then jumps back up without charging.
This is the fuel gauge IC recalibrating against the new cell's discharge curve after a replacement. The coulomb counter still holds the old cell's model in memory, so voltage readings map inconsistently to percentage until it has a full reference cycle. Run one uninterrupted discharge from 100% down to automatic shutdown, then charge to 100% at standard rate without interruption. After that single cycle the percentage readings stabilise.
The phone gets noticeably warm near the battery while charging the new BL-G021A — is something wrong?
Mild warmth during the first few charge cycles is normal. A new Li-Polymer cell has higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, so the charge IC dissipates slightly more energy as heat during constant-current phase. If the phone becomes too hot to hold or charging stops before 100%, that points to a charge IC fault rather than the cell. For normal warmth, verify you are using the original NGM wall adapter — third-party chargers that over-voltage the input increase heat across the charge IC and the cell simultaneously.
