Fits Nokia 301, 301-1, 500, 515 and replaces OEM part number BL-4U battery.
3.7V and 1200mAh capacity delivers standard talk and standby time for this feature phone platform.
Connector slides into the vertical slot with the contact pins facing the device battery chamber.
We bench-tested this cell on the 301 platform; BMS accepted charge at 500mA without thermal spike or early cutoff.
On first use after installation, run one complete discharge-charge cycle without pulling the battery — the fuel gauge IC needs to map the new cell curve before accepting rapid top-ups.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Nokia 301 / 500 / 515 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BL-4U)

This is a 3.7V, 1200mAh Li-ion replacement for the Nokia BL-4U battery. It fits the Nokia 301, 301-1, 500, 515, and over 19 additional Nokia feature phone models that share the same BL-4U footprint and connector. Capacity is rated at 4.44Wh, matching the original Nokia specification.

  • BL-4U platform compatibility: These Nokia models share a common 3.7V single-cell architecture, identical connector pinout, and the same BMS handshake protocol — which is why one cell revision covers all of them without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on a Nokia 301 and monitored BMS cutoff at both ends of the charge curve. The protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage threshold, and charge termination fired at 4.2V as expected.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first install: After fitting this cell, run one full discharge down to auto-shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% before normal use. The Nokia fuel gauge IC is calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve — one complete cycle rewrites the reference and stops erratic percentage readings.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

The Nokia 301 fuel gauge IC stores a discharge curve from the previous cell. A new cell with a slightly different internal resistance profile hits a voltage point the IC doesn't recognise as safe — it cuts power even though charge remains. This isn't a faulty cell; it's a calibration mismatch between the new chemistry and the stored reference. Run one full discharge-to-shutdown cycle followed by a complete uninterrupted charge, and the IC rewrites its cutoff threshold to match the new cell's actual 3.0V floor.

Phone reports wrong battery percentage after cell swap

Nokia's fuel gauge IC uses a coulomb counter anchored to a learned capacity value from the original cell. Swapping cells doesn't reset that stored value, so the percentage readout drifts — it may read 50% and shut down, or read 20% with significant charge still available. The fix is the same full-cycle recalibration: discharge completely to auto-off, then charge to 100% in one session without interruption. After that cycle, the coulomb counter reanchors to the new cell's actual capacity and percentage accuracy stabilises.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Nokia 301 shuts off suddenly when the screen shows around 25% battery — is this a dead cell?

The cell itself is not the problem. The Nokia fuel gauge IC retains the discharge curve from the old battery, and when the new cell's voltage drops to a point the IC maps as "empty," it cuts power — even with usable charge remaining. Run one complete discharge to auto-shutdown, then charge to 100% without interrupting. That single cycle resets the IC's reference voltage to match the new cell.

The battery percentage on my Nokia 500 jumps around erratically after fitting the new BL-4U — sometimes it drops 10% in seconds.

Erratic percentage is the coulomb counter recalibrating against an unfamiliar cell. The stored capacity figure doesn't match the new cell's actual discharge curve, so small voltage fluctuations produce large swings in the displayed percentage. One full discharge-to-shutdown cycle followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% gives the counter a clean reference point. After that cycle, readings stabilise to within normal tolerance.

My Nokia 515 won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months before installation.

If the cell dropped below approximately 2.5V during storage, the BMS has entered deep-discharge lockout to prevent damage — the phone won't respond to the power button. Connect the phone to a charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing anything; the charge IC trickle-charges the cell back above the BMS recovery threshold. Once voltage climbs above 3.0V, the BMS releases and the phone will power on normally.
