Fits COMfortel M-520 and M-710 cordless phone handsets as a direct replacement for the original 3.7V lithium-ion pack.
3.7V 830mAh lithium-ion cell delivers the voltage and capacity this DECT handset requires for full wireless range and talk time on a single charge.
Connector slides into the handset battery slot with a positive-contact design; locking tab secures the pack flush against the door without tools.
We bench-tested this cell in an M-520 handset — BMS voltage stable across a full discharge cycle, base station charging initiated immediately, no fault codes.
After installing this battery, seat the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use; lithium cells in DECT phones need initial slow charge to calibrate the handset's fuel gauge.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

COMfortel M-520 / M-710 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V 830mAh Li-ion battery for the COMfortel M-520 and M-710 cordless DECT handsets. It slots into the battery compartment on the rear of the handset and restores wireless operation when the original cell can no longer hold a charge. Capacity is 830mAh (3.07Wh) — matching the original specification.

  • M-520 and M-710 compatibility: Both handsets share the same battery bay dimensions (52.95 × 35.10 × 4.50mm), the same 3.7V Li-ion chemistry, and the same charge circuit on the base station — so one cell fits both models without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the base station cradle. The protection circuit responded correctly to charge cutoff at full voltage and tripped as expected on low-voltage discharge — no thermal events, no anomalous BMS behaviour.
  • First-charge protocol for DECT Li-ion handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full uninterrupted charge cycle before first use. Li-ion cells shipped in storage-state need one complete charge to allow the BMS to calibrate its state-of-charge register accurately.

Talk time shorter than expected after fitting the new battery

A Li-ion cell arriving from storage often has a partial charge, and the BMS state-of-charge counter starts uncalibrated. The handset's fuel gauge reads inaccurately for the first cycle or two, which causes early low-battery warnings. Run two full charge-then-discharge cycles on the base, and the reported capacity will align with the actual 830mAh rating. If talk time is still noticeably short after three full cycles, check that the handset is fully seated — a loose contact causes trickle charging only.

Handset not re-pairing with the base after battery replacement

Removing the battery from a DECT handset cuts all power to the volatile memory holding the pairing data on some COMfortel models. When power is restored, the handset comes up with no registered base and shows an unregistered or searching indicator. Re-registration takes under two minutes — press and hold the registration button on the base unit until the LED flashes, then initiate pairing from the handset menu. Once confirmed, the handset stores the new pairing in non-volatile memory and retains it through future battery swaps.

Frequently Asked Questions

My COMfortel M-520 shows a full charge on the base but the handset dies well before I expect — is the new battery faulty?

Almost certainly not. A Li-ion cell shipped in storage state arrives with an uncalibrated BMS, so the handset's charge indicator is unreliable for the first two cycles. Run two complete charges on the base cradle followed by normal use until the handset powers down, then recharge fully. After that second cycle the BMS register resets and the display will track accurately against the 830mAh capacity.

The base station charge light stays amber or flashes an error after I fit the replacement battery — what's happening?

Li-ion cells stored at reduced voltage can present a terminal voltage low enough that the base charge circuit holds off and flags an error rather than starting a charge cycle. Seat the handset firmly in the cradle and leave it for 15–20 minutes — most COMfortel base stations will begin a recovery charge once the cell voltage climbs above the acceptance threshold. If the error persists past 20 minutes, remove and reseat the handset to reset the charge controller.

The M-710 handset loses range and audio breaks up near the edge of the coverage area — could the battery be causing this?

Yes. When a Li-ion cell's voltage sags under the RF transmit load at the edge of range, the DECT radio module drops transmit power to stay within the supply headroom — breaking up audio and reducing effective range. This is most pronounced on a partially charged or freshly installed battery that hasn't completed its first full cycle. Charge the handset to 100% before testing range, and check that the battery contacts in the bay are clean and making firm contact — oxidised contacts add resistance and worsen voltage sag under load.
