Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Unify OpenStage SL4 / OpenScape SL5 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This 3.7V Li-ion battery at 830mAh (3.07Wh) replaces the original cell in the Unify OpenStage SL4, OpenStage SL4 professional, OpenScape SL5 professional, and compatible variants. It slots directly into the handset battery compartment and restores power to the DECT handset. Physical dimensions are 52.95 × 35.10 × 4.50mm — check your existing cell before ordering if unsure.
- OpenStage SL4 and SL5 platform fit: These handsets share the same battery bay geometry and voltage rail across the standard and professional variants. The cell interfaces directly with the handset's charge management circuit — no modification needed.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on DECT handset test rigs. The protection circuit engaged correctly at low-voltage cutoff and the charge circuit accepted current from a standard base station without error flags.
- First-charge protocol for Li-ion DECT handsets: After fitting this cell, seat the handset in the base station and leave it undisturbed for a full charge cycle — typically 8 to 12 hours — before using it. Li-ion cells shipped in storage-state charge need a complete first cycle to allow the handset's fuel gauge to calibrate correctly.
Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement
A new Li-ion cell ships at a reduced state of charge — typically 30–50% — and the handset's internal charge tracking starts from that point. The fuel gauge in the OpenStage SL4 calibrates across full charge and discharge cycles. Until two or three full cycles complete, the handset may underestimate remaining capacity and shut down earlier than expected. Run the handset down until the low-battery alert triggers, then charge fully to 4.2V — repeat this two to three times and talk time stabilises.
Handset not pairing after battery swap
Removing the battery from a DECT handset cuts all power to volatile memory, which can erase the stored base station pairing on some OpenStage SL4 units. The handset will power on but show no signal or fail to register with the base. You will need to re-run the DECT registration sequence — hold the paging button on the base station, then initiate pairing from the handset menu within 60 seconds. Once paired, the link is stored to non-volatile memory and survives future battery changes.

Frequently Asked Questions
My OpenStage SL4 base station shows an error light after I put in the new battery — what's wrong?
A Li-ion cell arriving from storage sits at a lower voltage than the base station's charge acceptance threshold expects on first contact. The base reads this as a fault rather than a flat battery. Seat the handset firmly, wait two minutes, then remove and re-seat it — this re-triggers the charge handshake. If the error clears and the charge indicator comes on, the cell is charging normally; if it persists, check the handset contacts are clean and making solid contact with the base cradle.
The handset drains completely overnight even though it's sitting in the base — is the battery faulty?
This is almost always a seating issue, not a battery fault. The OpenStage SL4 base only charges when the handset contacts align correctly with the cradle pins — a slight tilt or debris on the contacts breaks the circuit. Check that the charge indicator light activates when you place the handset in the base. Clean the gold contacts on both the handset and cradle with a dry cloth, re-seat the handset until the indicator confirms charging, and monitor overnight.
Range dropped noticeably after I swapped the battery — the handset cuts out further from the base than before.
DECT transmit power on the OpenStage SL4 is sustained by a stable voltage supply from the battery. When a Li-ion cell is new and uncalibrated, voltage can sag briefly under the RF transmission load, causing the handset to reduce output power or drop the link. This typically resolves after two to three full charge-discharge cycles as the cell's internal resistance stabilises. If range is still short after three cycles, check that the replacement cell voltage reads at least 3.9V under the handset's charge indicator before testing range.
