This is a 3.7V, 650mAh lithium-ion battery for the Palm Treo 90, Treo 180, and Treo 180g handheld organizers. It replaces OEM part HND-14-0019-02. These early-2000s PDAs run their RAM, contacts, calendar, and application state directly off this cell — a dead or degraded battery means data loss, not just lost power.

  • Treo 90, 180, and 180g compatibility: All three models share the same physical footprint, connector pinout, and voltage rail. The Treo 180 and 180g added a GSM radio over the 90, but the battery spec — 3.7V, same form factor — did not change across the lineup.

Why the Treo 90 loses contacts and calendar entries after a battery swap

The Treo 90 uses SRAM for its main data store — contacts, calendar, memos, and installed app data all live in volatile memory powered directly by the battery. The moment the cell is removed and before a new one is seated, that memory loses power and clears. Even a two-second gap is enough to wipe data that was never written to flash. The fix is a completed HotSync before removal — not after, not during reinstallation.

Treo 180g won't complete boot after new battery installed

A freshly shipped replacement cell may arrive at 30–40% charge — below the minimum voltage the Treo's boot sequence needs to complete POST and initialise the GSM radio. The device will either freeze on the Palm logo or restart in a loop. Charge the battery to full before attempting the first boot. If the device still fails to start, hold the reset pin on the back panel for five seconds with the new cell at full charge, then power on.

If the data is already gone, restore from your last HotSync backup on the Palm Desktop software.

My Treo 180 gets stuck on the Palm logo and won't finish booting after I put in the new battery — what's wrong?

A replacement cell often ships at partial charge — sometimes as low as 30% — and the Treo 180's boot sequence requires enough voltage to initialise both the processor and the GSM radio before it will complete. At low charge, the device stalls at the logo or resets in a loop. Charge the battery fully before the first boot attempt. If it still loops, hold the recessed reset pin on the back panel for five seconds and retry.

My Treo 180g wireless sync keeps dropping or running slowly after the battery replacement — what causes that?

The Treo 180g's GSM radio is voltage-sensitive and will throttle or drop its connection if the battery voltage sags below a stable threshold during transmission. A cell that hasn't been fully charged yet can't sustain the power draw the radio needs during an active sync session. Charge the battery to 100% and reattempt the HotSync over the cradle or Bluetooth before assuming the radio or software is at fault. If drops continue at full charge, check that the battery contacts on the device are clean and making firm contact with the cell terminals.
