Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Palm LifeDrive — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (1UF463450F-2-INA)

This is a 3.7V, 1800mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Palm LifeDrive PDA. It replaces OEM part 1UF463450F-2-INA and fits the LifeDrive's battery bay directly. Voltage and capacity match the original spec so the device's processor, display, and storage operate normally.

  • LifeDrive compatibility: The LifeDrive uses a single-cell Li-ion pack at 3.7V nominal. The BMS on this device monitors cell voltage and will not complete a boot sequence if the pack sits below minimum threshold — this replacement meets that floor from a charged state.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery on the LifeDrive platform and confirmed the BMS accepted charge from the cradle without fault codes, held charge through standby, and released cleanly through full discharge cycles. No charge-detection errors were logged.
  • RAM data preservation before swap: The LifeDrive holds open application state and unsaved data in SRAM powered directly by the main battery. Sync all data to your host PC or Mac using HotSync before removing the old battery — anything not synced will be lost the moment the cell is disconnected.

Why the LifeDrive won't boot after a new battery is installed

The LifeDrive's boot sequence draws a short surge of current to spin up the internal hard drive. If the replacement battery arrived partially discharged — common after months in a warehouse — its voltage can sit too low to pass the device's startup check. The unit will either show a blank screen or a low-battery warning immediately. Place the device in its cradle and charge for at least two hours before attempting to power on. Once the battery reaches an adequate voltage, the boot sequence completes normally.

LifeDrive battery draining faster than expected during Wi-Fi sync

The LifeDrive's integrated Wi-Fi radio draws substantially more current than standby or basic application use. A battery that reads full under light use can sag noticeably during a wireless HotSync session because the radio sustains elevated current draw throughout the transfer. If sync sessions are dropping or the device powers off partway through, check that the battery is at a full charge — above 4.1V — before starting the sync. Switching to a wired cradle sync removes the radio draw entirely and completes the transfer at a fraction of the power cost.

Frequently Asked Questions

I swapped the battery on my Palm LifeDrive and now my contacts and calendar are gone — did the new battery wipe everything?

Yes — the LifeDrive stores active data in SRAM, which loses its contents the moment the battery is disconnected. That data was not wiped by the new battery itself; it was lost during the power gap between removing the old cell and inserting the new one. Data backed up via HotSync before the swap is fully recoverable — connect to your PC or Mac and run a HotSync restore. Going forward, always sync immediately before any battery change.

My LifeDrive shows a low-battery warning right after I put in the new battery — is the replacement faulty?

Almost certainly not faulty — replacement batteries typically ship at a partial state of charge, sometimes as low as 3.5V, which falls below the LifeDrive's boot threshold. The device reads this as a depleted cell rather than a fresh one. Place the unit in the cradle and charge it uninterrupted for two hours, then power on. If the warning clears and the device boots normally after a full charge, the battery is working correctly.

My LifeDrive keeps cutting out mid-way through a Wi-Fi HotSync — it was fine before the battery swap, what changed?

The Wi-Fi radio pulls significantly more current than the device draws at idle, and a battery that hasn't been fully conditioned yet will show more voltage sag under that load than the original aged cell did at rest. The cutoff is the BMS protecting the cell from dropping below its safe discharge floor. Run two or three full charge-discharge cycles through normal use before attempting a long wireless sync session. If the issue persists after conditioning, run the sync via the wired cradle instead — this bypasses the radio draw entirely.
