Fits Panasonic Toughbook 01 and CF-P1 handheld units, replaces OEM part CF-VZSU22.
7.4V, 2200mAh capacity delivers 16.28Wh — sufficient for full shift in field scanning and data collection before swap.
Single-pin connector orients flat against the battery bay; locking tab seats flush with no force required.
We bench-tested this cell on a Toughbook 01 boot cycle and confirmed the BMS accepted full charge without voltage stalling or safety cutoff.
Perform a full data sync to the host computer before removing the old battery — the Toughbook 01 stores open files and application state in RAM powered by the main cell, and removing power without syncing causes data loss.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Panasonic Toughbook CF-P1 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (CF-VZSU22)

This is a 7.4V, 2200mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Panasonic Toughbook 01 and Toughbook CF-P1 rugged handheld computers. It slots directly into either device and communicates with the onboard BMS using the same handshake as the OEM cell. Capacity is 2200mAh (16.28Wh), matching the original specification.

  • Toughbook 01 and CF-P1 compatibility: Both models run on the same 7.4V power rail and share the CF-VZSU22 connector and BMS protocol. One cell serves both platforms without hardware changes.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through charge and discharge on the CF-P1 platform. The BMS accepted the cell on first connection, reported state of charge accurately, and held voltage above 6.8V through a full discharge cycle with the wireless radio active.
  • RAM and data state before removal: Perform a full sync to your host PC before pulling this battery. The Toughbook CF-P1 holds open application state and unsaved data in volatile RAM powered by the main battery. A full power loss clears that memory entirely.

Rugged handheld not booting after new battery installation

A freshly shipped Li-ion cell typically arrives at 40–60% charge. The CF-P1 boot sequence draws a short current spike that can trip the BMS undervoltage cutoff if the cell is too depleted. The device shows nothing on screen — no logo, no boot progress — and appears dead. Charge the battery to at least 7.2V before attempting the first boot.

Battery percentage jumping or reading incorrectly after swap

The CF-P1 tracks state of charge through a fuel gauge that calibrates against the previous battery's discharge history. Swapping in a new cell can cause the gauge to report incorrect percentages — sometimes jumping from 80% to 20% with no load applied. Run one full charge to 100% followed by a complete discharge to let the gauge re-calibrate. After one full cycle, readings stabilise.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Toughbook CF-P1 lost all my open data when I swapped the battery — why did that happen?

The CF-P1 keeps active application state and any unsaved data in SRAM, which is powered directly by the main battery. The moment voltage drops to zero during a swap, that memory clears completely — there is no backup capacitor holding it. Before removing the battery, sync all open data to the host PC and close running applications. A full ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center sync before removal prevents data loss.

The CF-P1 wireless sync is dropping connections or running unusually slow after putting in a new battery — what's wrong?

The 802.11 radio on the CF-P1 is voltage-sensitive and pulls significantly more current than the standby draw. If the new battery arrived partially discharged, the radio triggers a brief voltage sag that causes the connection to drop or throttle. Charge the battery fully before attempting a wireless sync. Once the cell reaches 8.4V (full charge), radio performance returns to normal.

Battery life on the CF-P1 is noticeably shorter when scanning barcodes heavily — is something wrong with the new cell?

Nothing is wrong — the barcode scanner LED and wireless radio together draw several times the current of basic display use. That combined load depletes a 2200mAh cell faster than the device's standby estimate suggests. Check that the backlight timeout is set to the shortest acceptable interval and that the radio is off when not actively syncing. Both settings are in Start → Settings → System and can meaningfully extend the charge between top-ups.
