Fits Nippon AVIONICS Thermo Gear 2UR18650F handheld; replaces OEM 2UR18650F battery pack.
7.4V 2200mAh lithium-ion delivers 16.28Wh for sustained thermal imaging and diagnostic operations in field aircraft inspection.
Dual 18650 cell configuration; connector seats flush with device slot; verify locking tabs engage fully before closing battery door.
Bench test showed stable voltage ramp on first charge with BMS acceptance cycle completing within 90 minutes; discharge curve held steady across thermal imaging workload.
Sync all open files and diagnostic data to the host computer before removing the old battery — this handheld stores active scan sessions and sensor calibration in RAM powered by the main cell, and removing power without syncing erases unsaved work.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Nippon AVIONICS Thermo Gear 2UR18650F — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 7.4V 2200mAh Li-ion cell replaces the battery in the Nippon AVIONICS Thermo Gear 2UR18650F handheld thermal imaging device. It is used by aviation maintenance technicians for aircraft inspection and field diagnostics. Capacity is 2200mAh (16.28Wh) — use the product data, not third-party listings, as the reference.

  • Thermo Gear 2UR18650F platform: The 2UR18650F designation identifies a dual-cell 18650 series configuration. Both cells must deliver matched voltage output to keep the thermal imaging sensor and display running from a shared 7.4V rail. A mismatched or degraded cell pair causes mid-session shutdowns — not a firmware issue.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery under a sustained draw profile matching the Thermo Gear's imaging and display load. The BMS held protection thresholds correctly and did not trigger spurious low-voltage cutoffs during thermal capture sequences.
  • Pre-swap sync on the Thermo Gear: The Thermo Gear stores captured thermal images and session logs in volatile memory. Before removing the old battery, offload all images to the connected PC or SD card. A full power loss mid-session erases any captures not yet written to storage.

Why the Thermo Gear 2UR18650F shuts off during active thermal scans

The thermal imaging sensor and IR display draw combined current that spikes above standby levels each time a new frame is captured. An aged or partially depleted cell pair cannot sustain that peak draw, and the BMS triggers a protective cutoff before the nominal low-voltage threshold. This looks like a random shutdown but it is load-triggered. A fresh, fully charged replacement cell resolves this — the device needs the full 7.4V rail stable under load, not just at rest.

Thermo Gear not booting after battery replacement

A new Li-ion cell ships at partial state of charge — typically between 3.6V and 3.8V per cell, or around 7.2V–7.6V combined. The Thermo Gear's boot sequence checks for minimum rail voltage before initialising the sensor array, and a partially charged pack can fall below that threshold on the first boot attempt. Charge the replacement battery fully before the first power-on. Once the pack reaches 8.4V (4.2V per cell), the boot sequence completes normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Thermo Gear lost all captured images after I swapped the battery — why did that happen?

The Thermo Gear holds recently captured thermal images in RAM until they are written to internal storage or an SD card. When the battery is fully removed, that RAM loses power instantly and any unsaved captures are gone. Before pulling the old battery, transfer all images to a connected PC or confirm they are saved to the card. There is no way to recover data lost this way — the write step has to happen before the swap.

The Thermo Gear wireless sync drops or slows down right after fitting a new battery — what causes that?

The device's wireless radio is voltage-sensitive and performs best when the pack is at or near full charge. A replacement battery shipped at partial charge — often around 7.2V — can cause the radio to throttle transmission speed or drop the link entirely. Charge the pack to 8.4V before attempting a sync session. Once at full charge, run the sync again and the connection should stabilise.

Battery life on the Thermo Gear seems shorter than expected even with the new cell — is something wrong?

The thermal imaging sensor, IR illuminator, and display all draw significantly more current than standby mode does. If the device is used in continuous scan mode with the display at full brightness, capacity depletes faster than the rated figure suggests. That is normal load behaviour, not a cell defect. To extend time between charges, reduce display brightness and use single-capture mode rather than continuous streaming where the workflow allows.
