Fits Pax S900 payment terminal; replaces OEM battery IS509 for credit card processing and mobile transaction operations.
7.4V, 2200mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 16.28Wh — sufficient for full shift operation on the S900 terminal without mid-transaction power loss.
Battery connector seats into the terminal's rear slot with single locking tab; orientation marked on housing matches device port alignment.
We bench-tested this cell in the S900 charging cradle — BMS accepted handshake on first charge cycle, voltage regulation held steady under transaction load simulation.
After installation, run one complete transaction cycle before deploying in live checkout — the terminal calibrates charge indicator mapping during normal operation and requires full boot-power cycle to accept new cell firmware handshake.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Pax S900 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (IS509)

This 7.4V 2200mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original IS509 cell in the Pax S900 portable payment terminal. The S900 is a mobile POS device used for card processing and tap payments in retail and hospitality environments. Voltage and capacity match the original spec exactly — no hardware modification required.

  • Pax S900 fitment: The S900 uses a dedicated battery bay with a keyed connector that only accepts the IS509 form factor. The BMS on the S900 mainboard checks cell voltage at boot — a mismatched or exhausted cell will prevent the PCI boot sequence from completing.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the S900's full boot sequence, ran contactless and chip transactions, and triggered the receipt printer. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes across all three draw events.
  • First deployment tip: After installation, complete one full transaction cycle before putting the terminal into live service. The S900 maps battery capacity during normal operation and needs at least one complete power cycle to display an accurate charge indicator on screen.

Terminal rebooting mid-transaction after battery swap

The S900 receipt printer draws a short high-current burst when it fires — this is the most common cause of mid-transaction reboots on a new or degraded battery. If the cell voltage sags below the BMS cutoff threshold during that burst, the terminal treats it as an undervoltage fault and restarts. On a new cell, this usually resolves after one or two full charge-discharge cycles as the cell reaches its rated capacity. If reboots continue after three cycles, check that the battery connector is fully seated — a loose contact increases resistance and worsens voltage sag under load.

S900 not powering on after sitting unused in storage

Li-ion cells self-discharge over time, and if the S900 has been left uncharged for several months, the cell voltage may drop below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell. When this happens, the terminal shows no response on the power button and no charge indicator on the screen. Connect the terminal to its dock or direct charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing anything — most S900 BMS circuits include a trickle pre-charge mode that recovers cells down to approximately 2.0V. If the charge LED does not activate within 30 minutes, the cell is likely below recovery threshold and the battery needs replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Pax S900 reboots every time a receipt prints — is that a battery problem or a terminal fault?

That reboot is almost always the battery, not the terminal. The receipt printer pulls a sharp current spike when it fires, and if the cell can't hold voltage through that spike, the BMS trips and the terminal restarts. We saw this on the bench with a degraded original cell and it cleared completely after swapping to a fresh IS509. If it still reboots after fitting a new battery, reseat the connector — a loose contact amplifies the voltage sag.

The charge indicator on my S900 has been stuck at 99% since I installed the new battery — is the cell faulty?

It's not faulty. New Li-ion cells enter a top-off phase on the first charge where the charge IC holds at near-full voltage for an extended period before the indicator increments to 100%. The S900 also needs at least one complete power cycle to calibrate its charge display against the new cell's capacity curve. Run one full transaction cycle, let the terminal discharge to around 20%, then charge it back to full — the indicator will track correctly after that.

My S900 was in a drawer for four months and now won't turn on even when plugged in — can the battery recover?

A four-month idle period is long enough for a Li-ion cell to drop below the BMS recovery threshold from self-discharge. Connect the terminal to its charging dock and leave it undisturbed for 30 minutes — the S900 BMS runs a trickle pre-charge routine that can recover cells down to approximately 2.0V per cell without any button input. If the charge indicator light doesn't activate within that window, the cell voltage has dropped past the point of recovery and replacing the IS509 battery is the next step.
