Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

VeriFone T650p — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (INR18650-2S1P)
This is a 7.4V, 2600mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the VeriFone T650p mobile payment terminal. It replaces OEM part number INR18650-2S1P and fits the T650p directly. Capacity is 2600mAh (19.24Wh), matching the original cell specification.
- T650p platform fit: The T650p uses a 7.4V two-cell series pack (2S1P configuration) with a BMS that handshakes with the terminal's charge controller on startup. This replacement uses the same cell arrangement and connector, so the terminal's charge IC recognises the pack without firmware errors.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through cold-start boot sequences and simulated transaction loads covering display, wireless radio, and thermal printer draws simultaneously. The BMS held stable across all three draw profiles without triggering overcurrent cutoff.
- First transaction cycle after install: Complete one full transaction — power on, process a card, print a receipt — before deploying in a live environment. The T650p maps battery capacity during normal operation, not during idle charging. That cycle lets the terminal set the charge indicator correctly so the gauge reflects actual state of charge.
Terminal not completing PCI boot sequence after battery swap
The T650p runs a PCI-compliant boot sequence that includes a battery authentication handshake. On a fresh pack, the BMS may not have completed its first charge acceptance cycle, which causes the terminal to stall or loop at the boot screen. This is not a faulty battery — it means the BMS and the terminal's charge IC have not yet exchanged a full charge-discharge profile. Charge the terminal to 100%, power it off, then power it back on. That sequence clears the handshake flag and the boot completes normally.
Terminal reboots mid-sale during receipt printing
The thermal printer in the T650p pulls a sharp current spike the moment it fires — on top of the active wireless radio and display draw already running. If the battery voltage sags below the BMS's low-voltage trip threshold during that combined load, the BMS cuts output to protect the cells and the terminal reboots. This usually appears on a degraded original pack, but can also occur on a replacement that has not yet been fully charged. Charge to 8.35V (full pack voltage) before the first live deployment to give the BMS enough headroom to absorb the printer spike without tripping.

Frequently Asked Questions
My VeriFone T650p won't turn on after sitting in a drawer for a few months — is the battery dead?
Most likely the cell voltage dropped below the BMS recovery threshold from self-discharge during storage. Connect the terminal to the charger and leave it for at least 90 minutes before attempting to power on — the charge IC needs time to trickle-charge the cells back above the recovery floor, typically around 6.0V pack voltage, before the BMS will allow a boot. If the charge LED shows activity, the pack is recovering. If there is no LED response after 30 minutes on charge, the cells may have discharged too far to recover.
The battery indicator on my T650p is stuck at 99% and won't show 100% even after a full night on the charger — what's happening?
This is the charge IC holding the pack in top-off mode. On a new cell, the charge controller extends the CV (constant voltage) phase to condition the cells, which keeps the display from reporting 100% until the current drops to the termination threshold. It is not a faulty battery or a faulty charger. Remove the terminal from the charger once the charge LED goes solid, then complete one normal transaction cycle — the gauge recalibrates and reads correctly on the next charge.
The T650p feels noticeably warm during a busy transaction period — is that a battery problem or something else?
Warmth during heavy use is a combined load issue, not a single-component fault. The T650p runs the display, wireless radio, and thermal printer simultaneously during peak periods, and the 7.4V pack absorbs that full draw. Heat concentrates at the battery contacts and the charge IC. If the terminal stays warm but does not reboot or throw errors, the battery is within normal operating range. If surface temperature becomes uncomfortable to hold, reduce concurrent transaction volume and check that the terminal's ventilation points are not blocked by a case or mount.
