Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Pharos EZ-Road / PEZ120 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (E3MIO2135211)

This 3.7V 1300mAh Li-ion cell replaces the OEM battery in the Pharos EZ-Road and PEZ120 portable GPS navigation devices. It fits the internal battery bay directly and matches the original voltage rail and connector. Capacity is 4.81Wh, sourced to the E3MIO2135211 specification.

  • EZ-Road and PEZ120 compatibility: Both models share the same battery bay dimensions, 3.7V nominal rail, and BMS handshake protocol — one cell covers both units without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a PDA-class test rig. The BMS tripped correctly at low-voltage cutoff and accepted a full charge without thermal events.
  • RAM state before removal: Sync all open files and application data to a host PC before pulling the battery. The EZ-Road stores active navigation data and user settings in volatile RAM — once the cell is disconnected, that data clears immediately.

Why the EZ-Road goes blank mid-route after a battery swap

When a replacement cell ships at storage charge — typically 30–50% — the device may power on briefly, display the route screen, then cut out. The BMS on the EZ-Road triggers a low-voltage shutdown faster under GPS and screen load than at idle. The fix is straightforward: charge the new battery to 100% before booting into navigation mode. Do not rely on the charge indicator alone — let it complete a full cycle first.

EZ-Road stuck on boot screen after new battery installed

A cell below approximately 3.5V may not supply enough current for the boot sequence to complete — the device stalls at the splash screen or restarts in a loop. This is not a firmware fault. Connect the unit to a charger and leave it for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on again. Once the cell reaches a stable charge above 3.6V, the boot sequence completes normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

My EZ-Road lost all my saved routes and settings after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes, and it happens on every PDA-class GPS device. The EZ-Road holds active routes, recent destinations, and some application state in volatile RAM powered directly by the main battery. The moment the old cell comes out, that RAM clears. Always sync the device to your PC and allow any active navigation session to close before removing the battery — data saved to internal flash storage survives the swap, but anything only in RAM does not.

The EZ-Road won't turn on at all after fitting the new battery — what's wrong?

The replacement cell ships at storage charge, usually around 30–50%, which is often too low for the boot sequence to complete under full load. Connect the device to its charger before attempting to power on. Leave it charging for at least 30 minutes, then try again. If the unit still won't boot, confirm the battery connector is fully seated — a partial connection drops voltage at the BMS sense pin and blocks startup.

Battery life on the EZ-Road feels much shorter when I'm using it in the car than when it's just sitting idle — why?

GPS lock, active screen backlight, and map rendering pull significantly more current than standby. The EZ-Road's display and positioning chipset together draw roughly three to four times the idle load. This is normal behaviour for the device class — it is not a fault with the replacement cell. For long journeys, use the vehicle charger to keep the device on mains power rather than relying solely on the internal battery.
