My Plantronics CS70N base shows a charging error after I fitted the new battery — what's causing it?
The base station expects a BMS handshake from the cell during the first dock. If the new pack has been sitting at storage voltage for a while, that handshake can stall and trigger a charging error. Remove the headset from the base, wait 10 seconds, then re-seat it firmly so the cradle pins make clean contact. That resets the handshake attempt, and the base should begin charging normally within a few seconds.
Talk time on my Voyager Pro is noticeably shorter with the new battery than I expected — is the cell faulty?
Li-Polymer cells don't reach full capacity straight out of the pack. On the first two to three cycles the cell's internal resistance runs slightly higher, which reduces usable capacity before the BMS trips. Run three full charge-discharge cycles through the base station without interrupting them mid-charge, and talk time will increase incrementally across those cycles. By cycle five, the cell should be delivering its rated 140mAh.
My CS70 headset gets noticeably warm during long calls — is that normal with this battery?
The CS70 housing is small and packs the DECT radio and audio circuit close to the battery. During extended calls, the combined current draw from both generates heat in a tight space, which is normal at this cell size and form factor. Warmth becomes a concern only if the housing is hot to the touch — mild warmth is expected. If the headset feels genuinely hot, check that the replacement cell dimensions match the spec (24.60 × 12.82 × 6.22mm) so it is not compressed inside the bay.
