Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sony NWZ-W202 / SBH80 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (LP401225)
This is a 3.7V, 80mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Sony NWZ-W202 and SBH80 wireless headsets. It matches OEM part number LP401225 and fits the compact cell bay in both models. At 26.20 x 12.00 x 4.00mm, it slots into the same housing as the original cell.
- NWZ-W202 and SBH80 compatibility: Both models share the same LP401225 cell footprint, voltage rail, and BMS handshake protocol — one replacement covers both. The connector pinout and cell dimensions are identical across the two.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the NWZ-W202 platform. The BMS accepted the new pack without error flags, and charge termination cut in cleanly at full voltage.
- First-charge protocol on DECT and wireless headsets: On first use, seat the headset in its charging cradle and run a complete charge cycle before audio playback. The headset's charge controller needs one full cycle to log the new cell and calibrate its charge-state readout accurately.
Why the NWZ-W202 cuts out mid-playback under combined radio and audio draw
The NWZ-W202 runs Bluetooth radio and audio decoding simultaneously from an 80mAh cell. When both subsystems draw current at the same time — particularly during high-bitrate audio or signal reconnection — instantaneous current demand spikes. A degraded or storage-voltage cell can't sustain that spike, so the BMS trips the output to protect the cell. A fresh, fully charged LP401225 cell holds the voltage rail stable through those combined-load peaks without tripping the cutoff.
Base station shows full charge but headset cuts off after short use
This happens when the replacement cell is at storage voltage — typically around 3.6–3.7V — rather than a true full charge. The charge controller reads that as near-full and terminates early. The fix is straightforward: leave the headset seated in the cradle for a complete uninterrupted charge cycle, confirmed by the charge indicator going from active to complete. After that first full cycle, the controller recalibrates and subsequent charges terminate at the correct 4.2V endpoint.

Frequently Asked Questions
My NWZ-W202 keeps cutting out mid-song even though the battery shows charged — what's causing it?
The NWZ-W202 runs Bluetooth radio and audio decoding at the same time, and that combined draw creates current spikes the BMS monitors closely. If the cell voltage sags below the BMS cutoff threshold during one of those spikes, the output trips and audio drops. This usually happens with a cell that hasn't completed its first full conditioning cycle yet. Seat the headset in the cradle, run one complete charge cycle to 4.2V, and the sag drops significantly on subsequent use.
The charging cradle isn't recognising the new battery — the charge indicator won't come on at all. What's wrong?
The NWZ-W202 and SBH80 cradles expect the BMS on the cell to respond with a valid handshake before initiating charge. If the replacement cell shipped at low storage voltage, the BMS may not respond fast enough for the cradle to register it. Remove the headset, reseat it firmly so the charge contacts are fully engaged, and leave it undisturbed for five minutes. The BMS should initialise and the charge indicator should activate — if the cell voltage is above 3.0V, the cradle will begin charging normally.
The headset gets noticeably warm during long listening sessions — is that a battery problem?
Warmth during extended use is normal for an 80mAh Li-Polymer cell packed into a small housing with active Bluetooth radio. Heat becomes a concern if the housing gets hot to the touch rather than warm, which points to a cell sustaining sustained over-current draw. Check that you're using the OEM cradle or a charger rated for the original charge current — overspec chargers push more current than the BMS is tuned to handle. If you're using the correct cradle and the heat is excessive, let the headset cool to room temperature before the next charge.
