Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

PROGRESS A21P / A21PL — 18V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This is an 18V Li-ion replacement battery with 2500mAh (45Wh) capacity for the PROGRESS A21P and A21PL cordless stick vacuums. It slots into the same battery bay as the original and connects to the same charging circuit. When the factory cell loses capacity after repeated cycles, this is a direct cell replacement at the same voltage and form factor.
- A21P and A21PL compatibility: Both models run on the same 18V battery platform, share the same connector housing, and use the same BMS communication protocol. One cell replacement covers either unit.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the cell through charge and discharge cycles on a compatible 18V vacuum platform. The BMS accepted the charge handshake without fault codes, and the pack reached rated capacity within two full cycles.
- Dock charging habit on cordless vacuums: Do not leave the A21P on the charging dock permanently. Continuous trickle charging accelerates cell degradation faster than regular charge-and-remove cycles. Charge to full, then remove the battery or vacuum from the dock.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator shows low
This happens when the motor draws more current than the BMS expects — usually caused by a partially blocked filter or brush roll, not a failing battery. The BMS sees a sustained overcurrent condition and throttles power to protect the cell, which the motor experiences as voltage sag. The vacuum loses suction noticeably while the indicator still reads mid-charge. Clean the filter and check the brush roll for hair wrap before assuming the battery is at fault.
Motor cuts out mid-use then recovers after a short pause
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When airflow is restricted — blocked filter, full dustbin, or obstructed inlet — the motor spins harder to maintain suction and draws a current spike the BMS interprets as a fault. The pack shuts down, cools briefly, and the BMS resets. Clear the blockage, empty the dustbin, and confirm the filter is seated correctly. If cut-outs persist on a clean, unobstructed machine, measure pack voltage under load — a healthy 18V cell should hold above 16V during normal suction.

Frequently Asked Questions
My PROGRESS A21P loses suction well before the battery light turns red — is the battery dying or something else?
A partially blocked filter is the most common cause. When airflow is restricted, the motor draws more current than rated, the BMS throttles power to protect the cell, and suction drops — even with plenty of charge remaining. Clean or replace the filter first and check the brush roll for obstructions. If suction holds after that, the battery is fine.
The vacuum cuts out after a minute or two of use, then works again if I wait — what's causing that?
That's the BMS tripping on an overcurrent spike, usually triggered by restricted airflow rather than a weak cell. A full dustbin or blocked inlet forces the motor to work harder, pulls more current, and the BMS shuts the pack down as a protective response. Empty the dustbin, clean the filter, and clear any inlet blockages before the next use. If it still cuts out on an unobstructed machine, check that pack voltage holds above 16V under load.
The new battery fades noticeably after just a few months — could continuous dock charging be the cause?
Yes — leaving the A21P on the dock permanently is one of the fastest ways to degrade Li-ion cells. Continuous trickle charge keeps the cell at high state-of-charge for extended periods, which accelerates capacity loss more than regular use does. Charge the battery to full, then remove it from the dock or disconnect the vacuum. Store the pack at around 50–70% charge if the vacuum won't be used for more than a few weeks.
