Fits Rand McNally TND-T85, OD7, OD8, and PRO II 2 units replacing OEM part OP806363.
3.7V, 4000mAh Li-Polymer cell delivers full charge capacity for sustained GPS navigation and real-time traffic updates on commercial routes.
Connector type matches OEM socket; battery slides into slot with no modification; locking tab seats flush against device frame.
We bench-tested full discharge cycles on the TND-T85 platform; BMS held voltage stable across active navigation and idle periods without cutoff anomalies.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before route navigation — cold start after power interruption takes 5–10 minutes for first fix versus under a minute for subsequent warm starts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Rand McNally TND-T85 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (OP806363)

This 3.7V, 4000mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original OP806363 battery in the Rand McNally TND-T85 truck GPS navigator. It also fits the OD7, OD8, and PRO II 2 models, which share the same battery footprint and connector. Capacity figures come from the product data: 4000mAh / 14.8Wh.

  • TND-T85, OD7, OD8, PRO II 2 compatibility: These four Rand McNally units run the same 3.7V power rail, use the same physical connector, and share the OP806363 cell dimensions — 65.00 × 61.50 × 7.80mm. No adapter or rewiring needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the TND-T85 platform. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, and the charge circuit cycled cleanly to full capacity.
  • First satellite fix after power interruption: After fitting this cell, power the unit on outdoors and let it acquire a satellite fix before driving. A cold start after full power removal takes 5–10 minutes for first lock — normal behaviour. Subsequent warm starts return to under a minute.

Why the TND-T85 battery indicator drops fast under active navigation

The TND-T85 runs its GPS receiver, cellular traffic module, and backlit display simultaneously during active navigation. That combined draw pulls significantly more current than standby. An ageing or degraded original cell hits its voltage-sag threshold faster under load, so the indicator collapses quickly even from a full charge. A fresh 4000mAh cell restores the headroom needed to sustain that multi-component load without premature sag.

TND-T85 shuts off without warning before the battery indicator reaches empty

This happens when the fuel gauge calibration drifts after battery replacement. The device's charge indicator is calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve — a new cell may present a slightly different curve, and the unit cuts power before the visual warning triggers. To recalibrate, run the battery down to automatic shut-off twice, then charge uninterrupted to 100% each time. After two full cycles the indicator tracks accurately to the cell's actual 3.7V nominal floor.

Frequently Asked Questions

My TND-T85 lost all my saved truck routes after I swapped the battery — are they gone for good?

Saved routes and custom POIs on the TND-T85 are stored in flash memory, not battery-backed RAM, so a full power removal should not erase them. If routes are missing, the more likely cause is a firmware reset triggered by extended time without power during the swap. Reconnect to Rand McNally Dock software, and the backup sync will restore any routes previously uploaded to the cloud. If routes were never synced, re-enter them and upload immediately to prevent the same loss next time.

Satellite lock is taking 8 minutes every time I start the TND-T85 after the battery swap — is something wrong with the new cell?

Nothing is wrong with the cell. After a full power interruption, the GPS receiver loses its ephemeris data — the satellite position tables it uses for fast lock. Without that data it performs a cold start, which takes 5–10 minutes outdoors with a clear sky view. Once the unit completes one full fix and stores fresh ephemeris, subsequent warm starts drop back under a minute. Leave the unit stationary outdoors for the first fix after any battery swap.

The TND-T85 drains noticeably faster when I'm actively navigating than when it's just sitting on the dash — is the new battery faulty?

The battery is behaving normally. Active navigation runs the GPS receiver, traffic data radio, and display backlight at the same time — that combined draw is several times higher than standby current. The difference becomes more obvious with a fresh cell because the capacity is fully available and the contrast between load states is clear. Lower display brightness one or two steps in the TND-T85 display settings to reduce the single largest current draw during navigation.
