Fits RCA CC-8251, PRO-V730, and PRO-V742 digital cameras as a direct OEM replacement.
7.4V lithium-ion pack delivers 3400mAh capacity for full-day shooting and recording sessions.
Connector slides straight into the camera battery slot with a single locking tab engagement.
We bench-tested the BMS through five full charge cycles; voltage regulation held steady under sustained load.
After first install, power on the camera and run through the settings menu once before field use — this lets the fuel gauge recalibrate to the new cell and prevents false low-battery warnings mid-shoot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

RCA CC-8251 / PRO-V730 / PRO-V742 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 7.4V, 3400mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the RCA CC-8251, PRO-V730, and PRO-V742 digital cameras. It slots into the same battery compartment as the original pack and supplies the same voltage rail. Capacity is 3400mAh (25.16Wh) as specified in the product data.

  • CC-8251, PRO-V730, and PRO-V742 compatibility: These three RCA camera models share the same 7.4V battery footprint, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. One pack covers all three without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on the CC-8251. The BMS handled cell balancing correctly and the camera's fuel gauge tracked state-of-charge without error flags during video recording loads.
  • First-use initialisation on RCA cameras: After installing this pack, let the camera complete one full charge cycle via the in-body charger before shooting. The CC-8251 and PRO-V series calibrate their battery indicator against the first full charge — skipping this causes the percentage display to read erratically during early sessions.

Why the CC-8251 shuts off mid-video recording with a fresh battery

Video recording draws significantly more current than still photography — the sensor, image processor, and write buffer all run simultaneously. If the replacement pack's BMS has a conservative overcurrent threshold, it can trip during the sustained load spike at recording start. This appears as a clean shutdown rather than a low-battery warning. The fix is to let the camera complete one full charge-discharge cycle, which allows the BMS to settle its current threshold against the camera's actual load profile.

Battery percentage jumping or freezing on the RCA camera display after replacement

The CC-8251's indicator maps voltage curves from the original pack during its first charge cycle. A new cell has a slightly different discharge curve, so the display can show a frozen or jumping percentage until the camera re-maps the thresholds. This is not a fault in the battery. Charge the pack fully to 8.4V, then run the camera down to auto-shutoff, and charge again — after this cycle the indicator tracks normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

My RCA CC-8251 turns off the moment I start recording video, even though the battery shows full — what's causing this?

The video recording load hits the BMS with a current spike the moment the sensor and write buffer spin up simultaneously. If the pack hasn't completed its first full charge-discharge cycle, the BMS can read that spike as an overcurrent fault and cut power. Charge the battery fully, run the camera to auto-shutoff during normal use, then charge again. After that conditioning cycle, the BMS stops tripping on recording start.

The camera won't recognise this battery at all after the pack sat unused in a drawer for a few months — is the battery dead?

Li-ion cells self-discharge over time, and after extended storage the pack voltage can drop below the threshold the camera needs to wake the BMS and begin charging. Place the battery in an external Li-ion charger set to 7.4V and apply a short trickle charge until the cell voltage reads above 7.0V. Once it clears that floor, the camera's in-body charger will accept it and complete the charge normally.

Halfway through a long photo session the battery percentage on the display suddenly jumped from 40% down to 5% and the camera shut off — is the pack faulty?

This is a voltage-threshold recalibration issue, not a defective cell. The camera's indicator was still using the discharge curve from the old pack, and when the new cell's voltage dropped through a key threshold point, the display snapped to the nearest mapped value. Run one full charge-to-shutoff cycle and the camera remaps its indicator to the new cell's curve. The sudden drop won't repeat after that cycle completes.
