Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Rollei Action Cam 420 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (RL420B)
This is a 3.7V, 1180mAh Li-ion cell built to replace the original battery in the Rollei Action Cam 420 (also listed as Actioncam 420 and AC420). It matches the OEM voltage, physical dimensions (36.77 × 28.80 × 13.21mm), and connector orientation. When the original cell no longer holds charge through a full recording session, this is the direct swap.
- AC420 platform fit: The Action Cam 420, Actioncam 420, and AC420 all share the same battery bay and connector spec. The RL420B part number maps directly to this platform — voltage rail and physical form factor match without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the bench, monitoring BMS handshake and cutoff behaviour. The protection circuit tripped correctly at low-voltage threshold and accepted charge without error flags.
- First-cycle initialisation on the AC420: Run one full charge cycle inside the camera body or OEM charger before your first shoot. Some camera BMS systems need this initial charge cycle to begin reporting battery-remaining percentage accurately on the display.
Why the AC420 shows a dead battery indicator on a new replacement cell
The Action Cam 420 maps its battery indicator to a specific voltage-threshold curve calibrated against the original cell's discharge profile. A new replacement cell sitting at storage charge (typically 3.6–3.7V) can register as depleted if the camera has not yet completed a full charge cycle with it installed. The BMS has not established a baseline for the new cell's upper and lower voltage limits. One full charge from empty to 4.2V inside the camera body resets this mapping and brings the indicator in line with actual charge state.
Battery percentage jumping erratically on the AC420 display
This happens when the camera's voltage-to-percentage table does not yet match the discharge curve of the new cell. The indicator is reading real voltage, but translating it incorrectly. It is most noticeable in the middle percentage range — the display may skip from 60% to 20% without warning. Two full charge-discharge cycles through the camera body recalibrate the mapping; after that, the readout stabilises.

Frequently Asked Questions
The AC420 shows "no battery" even though the replacement cell is fully seated — what's causing that?
The camera's BMS runs an authentication check on first install and can reject a new cell that hasn't completed a charge cycle from within the camera body or OEM charger. Remove the battery, reinsert it firmly, then charge it to full via the camera before powering on. This handshake normally resolves after that first in-camera charge. If the error persists, check the contact pins on the battery bay for debris or corrosion.
My shot count is much lower than expected — is the replacement cell underpowered?
Rated capacity is measured under a controlled, steady load — the AC420's actual draw spikes during video recording because the sensor, processor, and image stabilisation all pull current simultaneously. Cold temperatures compound this; Li-ion cells lose usable capacity below 10°C as internal resistance rises. Check your recording mode — 4K or high-frame-rate modes draw significantly more than 1080p. If capacity still seems low after two full charge-discharge cycles, measure resting voltage with a multimeter — a healthy cell at full charge reads 4.15–4.20V.
The camera body gets noticeably warm during long video clips with the new battery — is that a problem with the cell?
Heat during sustained recording comes primarily from the sensor and image processor, not the battery. The cell does contribute some heat as it discharges under continuous load, but the main source is the camera's internal components. If the battery itself feels hot to the touch — not just warm — after a clip, check that the cell is seated flush with no contact misalignment causing resistance. Normal surface temperature for the cell after a recording session sits below 40°C; beyond that, let it cool before recharging.
