Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung Galaxy K / S4 Zoom — 3.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (B740AE)

This is a 3.8V, 2300mAh (8.74Wh) Li-ion cell built to fit the Samsung Galaxy K and Galaxy S4 Zoom camera lineup. It replaces OEM part numbers B740AE, B740AC, and EB-K740AEWEG. The cell fits the same contact footprint and connector orientation as the original.

  • Galaxy K and S4 Zoom platform fit: These models share the same battery bay geometry, contact layout, and BMS communication protocol — a single cell design covers the full range listed in the compatibility table above.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on Galaxy S4 Zoom bodies. The BMS accepted the cell without error flags, and voltage held stable across both still shooting and short video bursts.
  • First-install charge cycle: On first use, run one full charge cycle through the camera body or OEM charger before heavy shooting. The Galaxy K BMS uses that cycle to map its battery-remaining display to the new cell's discharge curve — skipping it causes erratic percentage readings.

Flash recycling slowing down before the battery indicator drops

The S4 Zoom's capacitor recharges between flash shots by drawing a short burst of high current from the cell. As cell voltage sags under repeated flash use, that recharge current drops, and the recycling gap between shots gets longer. This happens even when the battery percentage display still reads mid-range, because the indicator tracks average voltage, not peak-draw headroom. If recycle time stretches noticeably, the cell is near the end of its usable charge — swap or recharge before a critical shoot.

Battery percentage jumping between readings mid-shoot

This is a discharge-curve mismatch between the new cell and the camera's fuel-gauge thresholds. Samsung's BMS maps battery percentage to fixed voltage steps calibrated on the original cell — a replacement cell with a slightly different discharge curve hits those voltage thresholds at different points. The fix is completing two to three full charge-discharge cycles in the camera body. After cycling, the BMS recalibrates its reference points and the percentage display stabilises.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Galaxy S4 Zoom shows "No Battery" or won't recognise the replacement cell at all — what's happening?

The Galaxy K and S4 Zoom run a BMS authentication handshake when a new cell is inserted. A fresh replacement cell that hasn't been charged to a minimum threshold can fail that check and trigger a no-battery flag. Place the cell in the OEM charger or insert it into the camera and charge it to at least 50% before powering on. One charge cycle from within the camera body is usually enough for the BMS to accept the cell.

My shot count with this replacement is lower than what I was getting with the original — is the cell underspeced?

Shot count drops when flash, continuous autofocus, optical zoom motor, and image stabilisation all run together — each adds draw beyond what a basic shot-count figure assumes. This cell matches the original 2300mAh rating, so capacity isn't the cause. If you're shooting in a mode that keeps the EVF live and uses flash frequently, expect noticeably fewer frames per charge than the rated figure. Switch off continuous AF between shots and let flash recycle fully to stretch each charge further.

The battery drains faster in cold weather — is this a fault with the cell?

Cold temperatures reduce available capacity in Li-ion cells by slowing ion movement across the electrolyte. At around 0°C, a 2300mAh cell can deliver noticeably less usable charge before voltage drops to the BMS cutoff. This is not a fault — it affects all Li-ion cells including the original. Keep a spare cell in an inside jacket pocket when shooting outdoors in cold conditions, and swap between the two to let each warm up before use.
