Fits Rollei ES1020G MP3 player, replaces OEM battery for this compact portable audio device.
3.7V, 2900mAh lithium-polymer cell delivers full playback capacity on a single charge cycle.
Connector attaches directly to the ES1020G internal battery slot with standard polarity orientation.
We bench-tested the cell on the ES1020G motherboard — BMS accepted charge current within first 10 minutes, no fault delays.
After installation, connect the charger and let it sit for 30 minutes before powering the device on — the ES1020G enters a deep-discharge protection state during storage that requires a trickle charge cycle to unlock normal operation.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Rollei ES1020G MP3 Player — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery

This 3.7V, 2900mAh lithium-polymer battery fits the Rollei ES1020G portable MP3 player. It replaces the original cell when capacity fade shortens playback sessions or the device stops holding a charge. Dimensions are 97.53 × 53.68 × 4.90mm — confirm these against your existing cell before installing.

  • ES1020G platform fit: The ES1020G runs a single-cell Li-Polymer architecture at 3.7V nominal. This replacement matches that voltage rail and physical footprint, so the board's protection circuit reads the cell correctly on first connect.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a Li-Polymer test rig. The BMS handshake completed without fault flags, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold — no false shutdowns during mid-cycle draws.
  • Post-install charge cycle: After fitting this cell, run a full charge before first use. Media players frequently enter deep-discharge protection after extended storage, and a slow trickle from the charger is what pulls the BMS out of that locked state before normal charge current resumes.

Battery percentage jumping after cell swap on the ES1020G

After replacing the cell, the ES1020G's fuel gauge often reads inaccurate percentages for the first few cycles. The on-board voltage-threshold indicator was calibrated to the discharge curve of the original — often degraded — cell. A new cell has a flatter discharge profile, which the indicator hasn't mapped yet. Run two or three full charge-to-discharge cycles and the percentage readout will stabilise against the new cell's actual curve.

Playback cutting out before the battery indicator shows empty

This happens at the tail end of the discharge curve when cell voltage sags below the audio amplifier's minimum operating threshold — even though the indicator still shows charge remaining. The amplifier draws a short burst of current during audio decoding, and a weakened or deeply cycled cell can't hold voltage through that spike. With a fresh 2900mAh cell, the voltage floor stays above the amplifier's cutoff point throughout the usable charge range. If cutouts persist after installation, charge to 100% and allow the BMS to complete a full initialisation cycle before testing.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Rollei ES1020G won't turn on after sitting unused for months — is the battery dead or is something else going on?

Extended storage almost always drops a Li-Polymer cell into deep-discharge protection, where the BMS locks the output to prevent cell damage. The device won't respond to the power button in this state. Plug in the charger and leave it connected for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on — the trickle current is what releases the protection latch. If the charge LED activates during that window, the cell is recovering normally.

The battery percentage on my ES1020G jumps around erratically after I put in a new cell — should I be worried?

No — this is a calibration issue, not a fault with the replacement cell. The player's voltage-threshold fuel gauge was mapped to the discharge curve of the old, degraded cell. A fresh 2900mAh Li-Polymer cell has a noticeably flatter discharge curve, which the gauge misreads as instability. Run two to three complete charge-to-discharge cycles and the readings will track accurately against the new cell's actual behaviour.

My ES1020G drains noticeably faster when I use certain features — is that the battery or the player?

That's the player. Features that drive sustained current draws — backlight at full brightness, EQ processing, or any wireless function if the model supports it — pull several times the current of basic audio playback at low brightness. A 2900mAh cell has a fixed energy capacity regardless of what's running. Reduce backlight brightness to its lowest usable level and the discharge rate will drop measurably — check your remaining charge reading before and after a session at each setting to see the difference.
