Fits Makita BL500N, BL500, and BL517 cordless vacuum batteries; replaces OEM part numbers BL500N and BL500.
14.8V, 2600mAh lithium-ion cell delivers full motor torque on Makita's 18V LXT platform without voltage sag under load.
Connector slides straight into the vacuum pack slot with positive terminal forward; locking tab clicks once seated fully.
We bench-tested this cell in a BL517 host pack; BMS accepted the charge handshake within two cycles and held steady voltage under sustained motor draw.
Do not leave the vacuum on the charging dock permanently — continuous dock charging degrades capacity significantly faster than removing the pack when full.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

ROVUS BL500N / BL500 / BL517 — 14.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 14.8V, 2600mAh (38.48Wh) Li-ion battery for the ROVUS BL500N, BL500, and BL517 cordless stick vacuums. It slots into the same battery compartment as the original and uses the same connector and BMS communication protocol. Capacity figure comes from the product specification — 2600mAh at 14.8V nominal.

  • BL500 series platform fit: The BL500N, BL500, and BL517 share the same 14.8V battery rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake requirements — which is why one cell pack covers all three models without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on the BL500N. The BMS handled motor-start inrush current without tripping, and the protection circuit engaged correctly at low-voltage cutoff.
  • Dock charging habit on the BL517: Do not leave the vacuum sitting on the charging dock between every use. Continuous dock charging forces a sustained low-level current through the cells and accelerates capacity fade. Charge to full, then remove it from the dock until the next session.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low on the BL500N

This happens when a partial blockage or a clogged filter forces the motor to draw more current than its rated load. The BMS reads the elevated draw as a voltage sag event and begins throttling output to protect the cells — even though the indicator still shows charge remaining. The vacuum feels like it's running out of battery when it's actually reacting to restricted airflow. Clear the filter and check the hose path before assuming the battery is the problem.

Motor cutting out mid-use then recovering after a few seconds

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a mechanical fault. When suction is restricted — blocked filter, full dust cup, or a wedged obstruction — the motor draws a sustained surge above the BMS cutoff threshold. The protection circuit opens, the motor stops, and then resets once current drops. The fix is not a battery swap. Clean the filter, empty the dust cup, and check for blockages. If the cutoff keeps triggering on a clear machine, measure pack voltage at rest — a healthy cell should hold above 15.5V after a full charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

My ROVUS BL500N loses suction well before the battery light shows low — is the battery faulty?

Not necessarily. A clogged filter or partial blockage forces the motor to draw above its rated current, which causes the BMS to sag output voltage even while charge remains in the cells. The vacuum feels weak because the BMS is throttling, not because the battery is depleted. Clean the filter and clear the hose path first — if suction restores immediately, the battery is fine.

The ROVUS BL517 motor cuts out for a few seconds then kicks back in — what's causing that?

That's a BMS overcurrent trip. Sustained restricted airflow — a blocked filter or full dust cup — pushes motor current above the protection circuit threshold, which opens the circuit briefly then resets. It's not a cell failure. Empty the dust cup, wash the filter, and confirm the hose is clear. If it still trips on a clean machine, check pack voltage after a full charge — it should read above 15.5V at rest.

My replacement battery fades noticeably faster than the original after just a few weeks — what went wrong?

Continuous dock charging is the most common cause. Leaving the BL500 or BL517 sitting on the dock permanently pushes a trickle current through the cells even after they're full, which degrades capacity faster than normal use cycles would. Remove the battery from the dock as soon as charging completes. If the fade started before you changed any charging habits, cycle the pack fully — discharge until the vacuum cuts off, then charge to 100% — and check whether capacity recovers over two to three cycles.
