This is a 3.85V, 6800mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e 10.5 (2019), covering SM-T720 and related variants. It fits the original cell slot directly, using the same OEM part number EB-BT725ABU. If your Tab S5e no longer holds a charge or powers on reliably, this replaces the degraded cell.

Why the Tab S5e shuts down at 15–25% after a battery swap

The fuel gauge IC on the SM-T720 board was calibrated to the resistance curve of the old, degraded cell. A new cell has lower internal resistance, so the IC underestimates remaining capacity at moderate load. When the display backlight and Wi-Fi radio draw current together, the reported voltage drops faster than the gauge expects, triggering a low-voltage shutdown before the cell is genuinely depleted. One full discharge-to-shutoff cycle followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% realigns the IC to the new cell's actual curve.

Fast charging not available on the Tab S5e after battery replacement

Samsung's Adaptive Fast Charging on the Tab S5e requires the charge IC to complete at least one full accepted charge cycle before it unlocks higher current delivery. Immediately after a swap, the tablet defaults to standard 5V charging while the IC verifies the new cell accepts voltage correctly. This is a protective hold, not a fault. Charge the tablet fully once using the original Samsung charger and cable — fast charging typically re-enables on the next charge session.

When the display and Wi-Fi radio draw current at the same time, the mismatched fuel gauge IC reads the voltage drop as a hard low-battery event and forces shutdown before the cell is actually empty. The gauge is still calibrated to the old cell's high internal resistance profile. Discharge fully to automatic shutoff once, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — after that cycle, the gauge tracks the new cell correctly and the sudden shutdowns stop.

The Tab S5e feels warm on the back while charging after the battery swap — is that normal?

Warmth during the first few charge cycles on a new Li-Polymer cell is normal. The charge IC is profiling the new cell's impedance and adjusting current delivery, which generates slightly more heat than a settled cell. Surface temperature should stay below 40°C. If the tablet becomes hot to the touch or the charge cycle stops before reaching 100%, check that the battery connector is fully seated and the thermal pad on the cell is not displaced.
