Samsung SCH-I400 Continuum — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (EB504465YZ)

This is a 3.7V, 1500mAh Li-ion cell that replaces the original EB504465YZ in the Samsung SCH-I400 Continuum and SCH-i100 Gem. It fits the full compatibility list including the i400 and i100 variants. Same voltage, same connector, same BMS handshake as the OEM unit.

  • SCH-I400 and SCH-i100 platform fit: These models share a 3.7V single-cell architecture with an identical connector pinout and BMS communication protocol — one cell covers both device lines without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the SCH-I400 platform. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, and charge termination triggered correctly at 4.2V per cell.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first install: After fitting this cell, disable fast charging and run one full discharge down to auto-shutdown, then charge to 100% uninterrupted. This gives the fuel gauge IC a clean discharge curve to map against the new cell before it starts reporting percentages to the OS.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the SCH-I400 after a cell swap

A new cell has a slightly different internal resistance profile than the aged cell the fuel gauge IC was calibrated to. Under modem load or screen-on bursts, voltage sags faster than the OS expects, triggering a protection cutoff before the percentage counter reaches zero. The phone interprets this as a hard shutdown, not a low-battery event. One full uninterrupted discharge-charge cycle recalibrates the coulomb counter and eliminates most premature cutoffs.

A fresh high-impedance cell draws more voltage overhead from the charge IC on the first few cycles, which appears as mild heat near the battery bay. This is the charge IC compensating for the new cell's impedance — not a fault. Heat should reduce noticeably after two to three full cycles as internal resistance drops. If warmth persists beyond three cycles or the phone becomes hot to the touch, check that the battery connector is fully seated and not intermittently arcing.

My SCH-I400 shows 25% battery and then shuts off with no warning — is the new cell faulty?

The cell is almost certainly fine. The fuel gauge IC on the SCH-I400 was calibrated to your old cell's discharge curve, and the new cell's voltage drops faster under modem or display load than the IC expects, triggering a protection cutoff before the percentage hits zero. Run one full discharge to auto-shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without fast charging enabled. After that single cycle, the coulomb counter maps to the new cell and the premature shutdowns stop.

The battery percentage on my SCH-I400 jumps around erratically after I put in this replacement — sometimes gaining percentage while I'm using it.

Erratic percentage readings are a fuel gauge IC recalibration issue, not a defective cell. The IC learned the old cell's impedance curve over hundreds of cycles and is now reading the new cell against a mismatched model, which causes the counter to skip or drift. Let the phone discharge fully to auto-shutdown once, then charge to 100% in one uninterrupted session. After that cycle the fuel gauge resets its reference point and percentage readings stabilise.

My SCH-I400 won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months before I installed it.

If a Li-ion cell self-discharges below roughly 2.5V during storage, the BMS enters a lockout state and refuses to deliver current to the device. Plug the phone into a wall charger — not a computer USB port — and leave it for 20 to 30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC trickle-charges the cell back above the BMS threshold, at which point the phone should boot normally. If nothing appears on screen after 30 minutes on the wall adapter, confirm the charger is delivering at least 5V with a USB meter.
