Fits Shark V1720, V1725, V1725H cordless stick vacuums; replaces OEM part X9725H.
4.8V Ni-MH chemistry at 1500mAh delivers the rated power draw for floor and upholstery cleaning cycles.
Connector slides straight into the battery bay with a single locking tab on the right side.
We bench-tested this cell in a V1720 unit; the BMS accepted the charge without fault codes, and output stayed stable across three full cycles.
Do not leave this vacuum on the charging dock continuously — Ni-MH packs on permanent trickle charge lose capacity fast; charge to full and remove it.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Shark V1720 / V1725 Series — 4.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (X9725H)

This is a 4.8V, 1500mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Shark V1720, V1725, and V1725H cordless handheld vacuums. It matches the OEM part number X9725H and slots into the same battery compartment as the original. Capacity is rated at 7.2Wh — identical to the factory spec.

  • V1720, V1725, and V1725H compatibility: These three models share the same 4.8V battery rail, physical housing dimensions, and connector orientation. The X9725H battery part number covers all three, so no model-specific variant is needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a V1725H unit. The BMS accepted the charge handshake without fault, current draw tracked within expected range under motor load, and the low-voltage cutoff triggered at the correct threshold.
  • Dock charging habit on these vacuums: Do not leave the V1720 or V1725 sitting on the charging dock between every use. These models use a basic trickle charger that does not cut off automatically when full. Charge to full, then remove the vacuum from the dock.

Cordless vacuum losing suction before the battery indicator reaches low

On the V1720 and V1725, suction can drop noticeably while the battery still reads adequate charge. This usually happens because a partially blocked filter forces the motor to work harder, drawing more current than the BMS expects under normal load. That elevated draw triggers a voltage sag at the cell level — suction weakens even though capacity remains. Clear the filter first, then recheck suction with a freshly charged battery.

Motor cutting out mid-use and then recovering after a few seconds

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When the vacuum picks up a blockage or runs against dense carpet pile, the motor draws a brief current spike that exceeds the BMS threshold. The BMS cuts power to protect the cell, then resets once current normalises. Check the suction path and filter for any restriction — once cleared, the motor should hold continuous power through a full charge cycle without tripping.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Shark V1725 has only been used a few times but the battery already seems weaker — what causes that?

The most common cause is continuous dock charging. The V1725 charger does not stop trickle charging once the battery is full, and Ni-MH cells degrade quickly when held at a trickle for extended periods. Even a few weeks of permanent dock storage can reduce usable capacity. Charge the battery fully, remove it from the dock, and only return it to charge when depleted.

Suction on my V1720 drops to almost nothing but the battery still has charge left — is the battery faulty?

Not necessarily. A restricted filter makes the motor pull more current than rated, which causes voltage to sag at the cell even when capacity remains. That sag reads as weak suction, not a low battery. Remove and clean the filter, charge the battery to full, then test suction again — if suction recovers, the battery is fine and the filter was the cause.

The replacement battery isn't charging on my V1725H — the charger light just stays the same with no indication it's working.

The V1725H charger expects a specific voltage range before it begins the charge cycle. If the replacement cell has self-discharged below roughly 4.0V during storage, the charger may not recognise it as a valid battery. Leave the battery connected to the charger for 30 to 60 minutes — some chargers will slowly condition a deeply discharged Ni-MH cell before switching to full charge. If the indicator still does not change, measure the battery terminals with a multimeter; a reading below 3.5V indicates the cell needs a boost charge from a compatible Ni-MH charger before the dock unit will accept it.
