Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sharp EC-SR8-B / EC-SR9-B Series — 25.2V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BY-7SC17)
This is a 25.2V, 1700mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Sharp EC-SR8-B, EC-SR9-B, EC-HR7-T, EC-SR3SX-P, and related cordless stick vacuums. It replaces OEM part numbers BY-7SC17 and BY-7SA25. Fit the battery to the vacuum's pack slot and it powers the motor directly — no tools required.
- EC-SR8-B and EC-SR9-B platform compatibility: These models share the same 25.2V battery rail, physical connector, and BMS handshake protocol. One battery pack covers both, along with the EC-HR7-T and EC-SR3SX-P variants that run the same voltage architecture.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through sustained motor loads and monitored BMS response under restricted airflow conditions. The protection circuit tripped correctly at overcurrent thresholds and recovered cleanly once the load cleared — no latched fault states observed.
- Dock charging on Sharp stick vacuums: Do not leave this vacuum sitting on the charging dock permanently. Continuous trickle charge from the dock causes capacity fade significantly faster than charging only when depleted. Charge to full, then remove the vacuum from the dock.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low
On the EC-SR8-B, suction loss often precedes any low-battery warning by a wide margin. The motor draws more current when the filter is partially blocked, which pulls cell voltage down faster than the indicator circuit expects. The BMS reads this voltage sag as normal discharge and does not flag it as a fault — but available power to the motor drops noticeably. Clean or replace the filter first before assuming the battery is at fault.
Motor cuts out mid-clean and then restarts on its own
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a battery failure. When sustained airflow restriction forces the motor to draw above the pack's rated current limit, the protection circuit opens the discharge path. The vacuum stops, the BMS resets after a few seconds, and the motor restarts — then trips again if the restriction is still present. Clear the filter, check the brush roll for tangled debris, and confirm the dustbin is not overfilled. Once airflow is restored, the cut-out cycle stops.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Sharp EC-SR8-B battery fades much faster than it used to — I'm getting noticeably less cleaning coverage than when the original was new. What causes that?
Continuous dock charging is the most common cause on these Sharp stick vacuums. The dock delivers a trickle charge that never fully stops, and Li-ion cells degrade faster under that condition than when charged in cycles. If the vacuum lives on the dock between every use, the capacity has likely been eroded over time rather than through normal discharge cycles. Remove the battery from the dock once it reaches full charge, and avoid topping it off after every short session.
The vacuum cuts out after a few seconds on carpet, then starts again — keeps repeating. Is the battery faulty?
That cycling behaviour is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a cell fault. Carpet puts significantly higher motor load on the pack than hard floors, and if the filter is partially blocked or the brush roll is tangled, current draw spikes above the protection circuit's threshold. The BMS opens the circuit, resets, and the motor restarts — until it trips again. Clean the filter thoroughly, clear the brush roll, and run the vacuum on a hard floor to confirm whether the cut-out stops. If it does, the battery is fine.
The replacement battery isn't charging on the dock — the charger light shows no activity. What should I check first?
Some Sharp chargers expect a specific BMS handshake before initiating charge. If the replacement pack's cells have dropped below approximately 2.5V per cell from storage, the BMS may present as a dead cell to the charger and the charger will not start a charge cycle. Try the battery in the vacuum first — if the motor spins at all, the pack is above cutoff and the charger should detect it normally. If there is zero motor response and no charger activity, the pack needs a slow pre-charge pulse; verify the replacement battery's BMS is compatible with the BY-7SC17 specification.
