  • RoboStar iQ550 platform fit: The iQ550 runs a 14.4V motor rail with a BMS handshake that checks cell voltage before the unit will run. This cell matches that voltage profile and connector pinout, so the vacuum's control board recognises it on insertion.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through repeated discharge runs on the iQ550 platform. The BMS balanced across all cell groups without triggering an overcurrent fault, and the suction motor held consistent RPM through the discharge curve.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low on the iQ550

This happens when the suction motor draws more current than rated due to a restricted filter or partial blockage. The BMS detects the elevated draw and reduces output to stay within safe limits — suction weakens even though the battery indicator still shows charge remaining. The cell itself is not always the cause. Clean or replace the filter first, then retest. If suction holds steady after that, the battery is fine. If it still sags, check cell voltage under load — it should stay above 12.5V during normal operation.

Motor cutting out mid-cycle then recovering on its own

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a flat battery. When the iQ550's brush roll hits a restriction — carpet fringe, debris accumulation, or a clogged filter — current spikes sharply. The BMS cuts motor power to protect the cell, then resets after a few seconds once current demand drops. It will keep tripping in the same spot if the restriction is not cleared. Remove the brush roll, clear any tangled debris, and clean the filter. After reassembly, if the cutout still occurs on open floor with no obstruction, the BMS may be tripping due to a weak cell — check resting voltage, which should read at or above 14.4V on a full charge.
