This is a 14.8V, 4400mAh (65.12Wh) Li-ion replacement battery for the Shinelon V87P-5480S2N and V87P laptops. It slots into the original battery bay and connects to the same BMS handshake points the motherboard expects. Use it when the original cell can no longer hold a usable charge under normal computing load.

Why the V87P BIOS reports poor battery health after a cell swap

The V87P reads battery health data from EEPROM stored on the original cell. When a new cell goes in, the BIOS compares live readings against stale EEPROM values and flags a mismatch as poor health. This is a data residue issue, not a fault with the replacement. Running a complete discharge-to-hibernate followed by a full uninterrupted charge gives the BIOS enough fresh data to recalibrate. After one or two full cycles the health warning clears and the gauge reads accurately.

Laptop shuts down at 20–30% shown on the fuel gauge

This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet mapped the new cell's voltage curve. Under full CPU plus display load, voltage drops faster than the uncalibrated gauge predicts, and the system hits a hard undervoltage cutoff while the display still shows charge remaining. The fix is calibration — discharge the laptop fully to auto-hibernate under real workload, not idle. After two to three full cycles the fuel gauge IC tracks the new cell accurately and the early shutdowns stop. Check battery voltage in your system info after calibration: it should read above 14.0V at the 30% mark.

The V87P battery stops charging at 80% and won't go higher — is the new cell faulty?

In most cases this is not a cell fault — it is a BIOS-controlled charge limit that was active on the previous battery and carried over in firmware settings. Check the power management settings in your BIOS or manufacturer utility for a "Battery Charge Threshold" or "Conservation Mode" option and disable it. Once the limit is cleared, charge the battery fully to 100% to confirm. If the setting is already off and charge still stalls at 80%, reset the BIOS to defaults and retry.
