Replaces Siemens part 91702901 for VK40B01/03 and VXAS020V09 cordless vacuums.
9.6V, 1800mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers the voltage and capacity needed to restore full motor torque on carpet and hard surfaces.
Battery slides into the handle slot with a single locking tab — connector orients automatically when fully seated.
We bench-tested this pack on the VK40B01/03 motor load; the BMS accepted charge without fault codes and held voltage steady under sustained suction.
Do not leave the vacuum on the charging dock continuously — dock trickle charge degrades Ni-MH capacity faster than charge-when-depleted cycles; remove the battery when full.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Siemens VK40B01/03 — 9.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (91702901)

This is a 9.6V, 1800mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Siemens VK40B01/03 and VXAS020V09 cordless vacuum cleaners. It replaces OEM part number 91702901. The battery slots into the same bay as the original and uses the same connector configuration.

  • VK40B01/03 and VXAS020V09 compatibility: Both models run the same 9.6V Ni-MH cell arrangement with matching physical dimensions and connector polarity. The BMS on each accepts the same charge termination signal, so the same replacement cell works across both platforms without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this battery through charge and discharge cycles on a VK40B01 unit. The BMS accepted charge termination cleanly, motor spin-up reached rated speed without voltage sag, and the cell temperature remained within spec across sustained operation.
  • Dock charging discipline for Ni-MH cells: Do not leave this vacuum sitting on the charging dock between uses. Ni-MH cells degrade faster under continuous trickle charge than from regular discharge cycles. Charge fully, then remove from the dock and store the vacuum off the charger until the next use.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

On the VK40B01/03, suction loss often happens while the battery still shows charge. The motor draws more current when airflow is restricted — a partially blocked filter or full dust cup increases the load and causes voltage to sag under draw. The BMS reads this sag as a low-cell condition and reduces power to the motor before the indicator reflects it. Clear the filter and empty the cup before assuming the battery is at fault.

Motor cuts out mid-clean and then recovers after a short pause

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When suction is restricted — blocked nozzle, clogged filter, or a sustained seal against carpet — the motor draws current above the BMS threshold and the pack shuts down briefly to protect the cells. After a few seconds the BMS resets and the motor restarts. Clear the obstruction, check the filter, then restart the vacuum. If the cut-out repeats on a clear filter, check cell voltage under load — a degraded pack will sag below 8.5V and trip the overcurrent threshold without an actual blockage present.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my Siemens VK40B01 lose suction halfway through cleaning even though the battery light isn't showing low?

A restricted filter forces the motor to draw more current than it normally would, pulling the cell voltage down under load before the indicator registers it as low. The vacuum's power drops to protect the cells, not because they're depleted. Clear the filter and empty the dust cup first — if suction holds after that, the filter was the cause, not the battery.

The motor on my VXAS020V09 cuts out for a few seconds then starts again — is the battery failing?

That cut-and-recover pattern is the BMS tripping on an overcurrent event, usually caused by a blocked nozzle or a filter that's restricting airflow enough to spike the motor draw. The BMS shuts the pack down briefly then resets. Clear any blockage, check the filter, and restart — if it still trips on a clean filter, check that cell voltage under load stays above 8.5V, because a degraded pack will trip the BMS even without a restriction.

My Siemens cordless vacuum battery fades noticeably after a few months — could the charging dock be causing it?

Leaving a Ni-MH battery on the dock continuously is the most common cause of early capacity fade in this device class. The charger switches to a trickle current once full, but Ni-MH cells deteriorate faster under sustained low-level charge than from regular discharge and recharge cycles. Charge the battery to full, remove it from the dock, and only return it when the vacuum needs charging again.
