Fits Sony DECT 1060 and DECT 1080 handsets; replaces OEM part numbers BT1002, BT-1002, BBTG0609001, BBTG0645001, and CBC1002.
2.4V Ni-MH chemistry delivers 800mAh capacity for standard talk and standby cycles on DECT cordless phones without performance variance.
Connector slides into the handset battery slot with a locking tab that seats flush against the phone housing and base charger contacts.
We bench-tested this cell in a DECT 1060 base station; the BMS voltage stabilized at 2.38V under transmit load with no cutoff errors.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require slow initial charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sony DECT 1060 / DECT 1080 — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (BT1002)

This is a 2.4V, 800mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Sony DECT 1060 and DECT 1080 cordless phone handsets. It replaces OEM part numbers BT1002, BT-1002, BBTG0609001, BBTG0645001, and CBC1002. When the original cell loses capacity, this swap restores the handset to normal operation.

  • DECT 1060 and DECT 1080 compatibility: Both models use the same 2.4V two-cell Ni-MH pack with identical connector orientation and housing dimensions. The base station charges via the same contact points on either handset, so one part number covers the full range.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through the Sony base station charge circuit. The NiMH cells accepted the trickle charge correctly, and the handset reported full charge status without fault lights at the base.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cordless phone cells need this slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — skipping it locks in reduced capacity from the first cycle.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

NiMH cells ship in a partial-discharge state and take three to five full charge-discharge cycles to reach rated capacity. On cycle one, you may see noticeably shorter talk time than the original — this is normal cell behaviour, not a fault. Each full cycle conditions the electrodes and builds capacity incrementally. By cycle five, the pack should be delivering at or near the rated 800mAh.

Base station shows no charge light or error indicator on new pack

NiMH batteries sit at a suppressed resting voltage after extended storage, sometimes dropping low enough that the Sony base station charge circuit does not recognise the pack as a valid NiMH cell. The base checks for a minimum voltage threshold before enabling full charge current. If the charge light fails to appear, remove the handset, wait 30 seconds, and reseat it firmly — this resets the base charge cycle. If that fails, leave the handset seated for two hours; trickle current from some base models will recover a deeply discharged pack to the recognition threshold.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Sony DECT 1060 handset stopped pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I get it back?

Removing the battery cuts all power to the handset, and some Sony DECT phones lose their pairing data when the cell goes fully flat. This is a phone firmware behaviour, not a battery fault. To re-pair, press and hold the page/find button on the base station for five seconds while the handset is powered on, then follow the registration prompt on the handset display.

The handset is losing range — calls break up near the edges of the house but the old battery was fine there.

NiMH voltage sags under RF transmit load, and a freshly installed or unconditioned pack delivers less sustained voltage than a fully cycled one. The DECT radio draws a short burst of current each time it transmits, and a low-capacity cell can't hold voltage steady through that burst, causing the signal to drop. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles first. If range is still short after conditioning, check that the handset sits flush in the base — a partial contact means the pack never reaches a true full charge.

The battery drains completely overnight even when the handset is sitting in the base — what's causing that?

If the handset isn't fully seated, the charging contacts don't close and the base never tops up the pack, so the handset runs entirely off standby draw until it dies. Lift the handset out and press it back in until you feel it click into position and the charge indicator lights. If the charge light still doesn't appear, clean the contacts on both the handset and base with a dry cloth — oxidation on NiMH contact pads is a common cause of intermittent charging on cordless phones.
