Fits Uniden DECT 1060, DECT 1080, and related DECT handsets; replaces OEM part BT1002.
2.4V, 800mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers rated capacity for standard cordless phone call and standby cycles.
Connector slides straight into handset battery slot with positive contact facing the spring terminal.
We bench-tested this cell on a DECT 1060 base station — BMS accepted the charge on first insertion without error codes.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use; Ni-MH packs need the slow charge cycle to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Uniden DECT 1060 / DECT 1080 Series — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (BT1002)

This is a 2.4V, 800mAh Ni-MH battery for the Uniden DECT 1060, DECT 1060-2, DECT 1080, and DECT 1080-2 cordless phone handsets. It replaces OEM part numbers BT1002, BT-1002, BBTG0609001, BBTG0645001, and CBC1002. When the original cell degrades and the handset stops holding charge, this pack restores the handset to full operation.

  • DECT 1060 and 1080 handset fit: Both series share the same 2.4V two-cell NiMH pack format, connector pinout, and physical bay dimensions — 49.44 × 20.82 × 10.59 mm. The same replacement covers either handset without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a DECT handset platform. The NiMH cells accepted a full charge without thermal event, and the base station's charge indicator behaved normally throughout the test sequence.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cordless phone cells arrive partially discharged from storage and need a slow, complete first charge to reach rated 800mAh capacity.

Talk time shorter than expected after fitting a new NiMH pack

NiMH cells in cordless phones typically need three to five full charge-discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity. A new pack pulled from storage has partially sulphated cells that haven't been exercised. Each full cycle breaks down that sulphation and incrementally raises usable capacity. After five cycles using the base station charger, talk time should stabilise near the rated figure.

Base station charge light not activating on a newly installed battery

NiMH batteries lose voltage during long-term storage. If the pack voltage drops below roughly 2.0V, some DECT base stations won't recognise the battery as a valid NiMH cell and will refuse to start the charge cycle. Trickle-charging the pack externally for 30–60 minutes brings voltage back above the acceptance threshold. Once the pack reads above 2.1V, reseat the handset in the base — the charge indicator should activate normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Uniden DECT 1060 handset shows reduced range right after I put in the new battery — what's happening?

NiMH voltage sags under RF transmit load when the cells haven't been conditioned yet. The DECT radio draws a short burst of current each time it transmits, and a fresh-from-storage pack can't sustain that load without dropping voltage, which forces the transmitter to reduce power. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles through the base station charger and range should return to normal. If it doesn't stabilise after five cycles, check that the handset is fully seated in the base cradle during each charge.

The handset battery drains completely overnight even though I leave it in the base — is the new battery faulty?

This is almost always a seating issue, not a bad cell. DECT handsets draw very little standby current when the charging contacts are active, but if the handset isn't fully clicked into the cradle, the contacts don't close and the battery discharges on its own. Remove the handset, wipe the gold charging contacts on both the handset and cradle with a dry cloth, and firmly reseat it — the charge indicator on the base should light up within a few seconds of correct seating.

The DECT 1060-2 handset lost its pairing to the base after I swapped the battery — how do I get it back?

Removing the battery fully cuts power to the handset, and some DECT phones drop their stored pairing data when power is lost. This is a handset firmware behaviour, not a battery fault. To re-register, press and hold the Page or Find button on the base station for five seconds until the base enters pairing mode, then follow the handset's registration sequence from the menu. Once paired, charge the handset fully before making calls.
