Fits Sony LIS1442 and 4-180-962-01 battery slots in PlayStation Move Navigation Controller wireless game pad.
3.7V, 600mAh lithium-ion cell delivers consistent power output for directional input and button response during extended play sessions.
Connector seats flush into the battery compartment with no modification; locking tab engages on both sides to lock the pack in place.
We bench-tested this cell through three full wireless play cycles on a CECH-ZCS1E unit — BMS accepted the new pack without fault and held steady voltage under sustained button load.
On first use after install, run one complete wireless play session to full automatic shutoff before recharging — the controller fuel gauge calibrates against first full discharge to set the empty reference point.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sony PlayStation Move Navigation Controller — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (LIS1442)

This is a 3.7V, 600mAh Li-ion cell that replaces the original LIS1442 battery in the Sony PlayStation Move Navigation Controller. It fits the CECH-ZCS1E, CECH-ZCS1U, and other Navigation Controller variants used with PlayStation 3. If your Navigation Controller no longer holds charge or powers off unexpectedly mid-session, this cell restores wireless function.

  • Navigation Controller fit — CECH-ZCS1E and CECH-ZCS1U: These models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and 3.7V nominal voltage rail. The LIS1442 footprint is specific to the Navigation Controller — it does not cross-fit the Move Motion Controller, which uses a different cell geometry.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a Navigation Controller unit. The charge IC accepted the cell without fault flags, and the BMS engaged cutoff at the expected low-voltage threshold without requiring any manual reset.
  • First-cycle calibration on the Navigation Controller: After installing, run one complete wireless play session through to automatic cutoff before recharging. The Navigation Controller's fuel gauge sets its empty reference point against the first full discharge cycle — skipping this step causes the battery indicator to read inaccurately from the start.

Why the Navigation Controller drops connection before the battery indicator hits empty

The Navigation Controller transmits wirelessly while simultaneously handling button inputs, and that combined load creates brief current spikes that a degraded or uncalibrated cell handles poorly. Even a new cell fresh out of packaging can show voltage sag under this load if it hasn't been cycled yet. When the cell voltage dips below the BMS trip threshold during a spike, the controller disconnects — even though the indicator still shows charge remaining. Running two to three full conditioning cycles closes the gap between indicated and actual charge state.

Fuel gauge jumping or showing wrong percentage after cell swap

The fuel gauge IC in the Navigation Controller learned the discharge curve of the original cell over many cycles. A new cell has a slightly different curve, so the gauge reads erratically until it recalibrates. This shows up as the percentage jumping — for example, dropping from 60% straight to 10% — or the controller shutting off at what appears to be a non-zero charge level. Let the cell discharge fully to automatic cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. Repeat this two to three times and the gauge stabilises to the new cell's curve.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Navigation Controller keeps disconnecting mid-game even though the battery indicator still shows charge — why?

This is voltage sag under combined wireless and button-input load. The cell voltage dips below the BMS cutoff threshold during current spikes, triggering a disconnect even when the indicator reads non-empty. It happens most often with a new cell that hasn't been conditioned yet. Run two to three full discharge-to-cutoff cycles and the sag reduces as the cell reaches its rated capacity.

The battery percentage on my PS3 jumped from 50% straight to 5% right after I swapped the cell — is the new battery faulty?

It's not faulty — the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. A new LIS1442 cell has a slightly different curve, so the gauge misreads until it recalibrates. Discharge the controller to automatic cutoff, then charge it fully without interrupting the cycle. After two to three full cycles the percentage reading stabilises and tracks accurately.

New battery installed but the Navigation Controller seems to run out of charge much faster than expected — is that normal?

Yes, for the first few cycles. A new Li-ion cell doesn't deliver its full rated 600mAh straight out of the package — it needs three to five conditioning cycles to reach rated capacity. Each full discharge and uninterrupted charge cycle allows the electrolyte to work through the full electrode surface area. By cycle four or five, you'll see noticeably longer play time compared to the first use.
