Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

SRF StarAddict — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This is a 3.7V, 1100mAh Li-ion cell for the SRF StarAddict smartphone. It fits the original battery bay and connects to the same charge IC the phone uses to manage cell voltage. Capacity figures are taken from the product specification — 4.07Wh total energy.
- StarAddict platform fit: The StarAddict uses a single-cell 3.7V nominal architecture. This cell matches that voltage rail and the physical footprint — 84 × 34 × 4mm — so the connector seats without modification to the housing.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the StarAddict platform. The BMS accepted charge without fault codes, held voltage above 3.5V through mid-discharge, and cut off cleanly at the low-voltage threshold without triggering a hard shutdown loop.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first cycle: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-to-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter against the new cell's actual discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated state.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This is a voltage cliff problem, not a capacity problem. When the modem, screen backlight, or both fire simultaneously, they pull a short high-current burst. If the cell voltage sags below the BMS cutoff threshold under that load — even briefly — the phone powers off. A new cell on its first few cycles has not yet reached minimum internal resistance, so the sag can be steeper than expected. Run two or three full discharge-charge cycles and the sag narrows. If it persists past cycle three, check that the cell connector is fully seated — a partial connection raises contact resistance and worsens voltage sag under load.
Phone shows wrong battery percentage after cell swap
The StarAddict's fuel gauge IC stores a learned discharge curve from the old cell. After a swap, that stored curve no longer matches the new cell's actual voltage-to-capacity relationship, so the percentage reading drifts — often reading full at 80% or dropping suddenly near the end. One complete discharge from 100% down to auto-shutoff, followed by a full charge uninterrupted to 100%, forces the coulomb counter to resync against the new cell. Do not interrupt that first cycle. After it completes, the percentage display stabilises within one to two further cycles.

Frequently Asked Questions
My SRF StarAddict won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is it dead?
When a Li-ion cell discharges below roughly 2.5V in storage, the BMS locks out to prevent damage, and the phone will not respond to a normal power button press. Plug it into a wall charger — not a computer USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without touching it. The charge IC delivers a low-current trickle to bring the cell voltage above the BMS re-enable threshold, after which the phone will boot normally. If there is no charging indicator after 45 minutes on a wall charger, the cell has discharged past recovery.
Fast charging stopped working after I put this battery in — the phone just charges slowly now.
On the first cycle with a new cell, the USB-PD or proprietary fast-charge handshake sometimes fails because the charge IC is running against an uncalibrated BMS. The phone defaults to standard 5V charging as a fallback. Complete one full standard-rate charge cycle to 100%, then reboot the phone and reconnect the charger — this resets the charge IC negotiation sequence. Fast charging resumes on the second or third cycle once the BMS has a reference point for the new cell's impedance.
The StarAddict feels warm near the battery compartment while charging with the new cell — is that normal?
Some warmth during the first few charge cycles on a new cell is expected. A fresh high-impedance cell converts slightly more energy to heat than a broken-in one, so the charge IC runs warmer than it will after a few cycles. If the phone is too hot to hold comfortably, remove the case, charge on a hard flat surface, and avoid charging while running apps. Warmth that persists past the third full charge cycle at the same intensity is outside the normal break-in range — check that the replacement cell connector is fully and evenly seated.
