Fits SteelSeries Arctis 9 wireless headset, replaces OEM part FT823456P battery.
3.7V, 1500mAh lithium-polymer cell restores full talk time on the Arctis 9 platform.
Connector slides into the battery slot with a single locking tab; polarity marked.
Bench testing showed normal Li-polymer BMS behavior; cell accepted on first charge cycle.
Charge the headset in the base station for one full cycle before taking calls — the base needs this handshake to log the new cell and display accurate talk time.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

SteelSeries Arctis 9 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (FT823456P)

This is a 3.7V, 1500mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the SteelSeries Arctis 9 wireless headset. It fits the Arctis 9 directly and replaces OEM part FT823456P. Capacity figure is from the product specification — 1500mAh / 5.55Wh.

  • Arctis 9 wireless platform: The Arctis 9 runs a combined load — simultaneous 2.4GHz and Bluetooth radio stacks drawing from a single cell. This battery matches the voltage rail and connector footprint the BMS expects on both wireless channels.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on an Arctis 9 unit. The BMS handshake completed without error, charge termination triggered at the correct voltage, and both wireless channels stayed active under combined audio draw.
  • First-cycle base station protocol: Seat the headset in the base station and complete a full uninterrupted charge before your first session. The Arctis 9 base uses this cycle to register the new cell — until it does, the on-screen talk-time estimate will read lower than actual capacity.

Why the Arctis 9 cuts out mid-session under dual-radio load

The Arctis 9 is unusual in running two active radios — 2.4GHz and Bluetooth — off one Li-Polymer cell simultaneously. Peak current demand spikes when both radios transmit at the same time, particularly during audio bursts. If the cell's internal resistance is elevated — either from age or a shallow first cycle — voltage briefly dips below the BMS cutoff threshold and the headset drops out. A replacement cell with low internal resistance handles these spikes without triggering shutdown.

Base station showing charging error after fitting a new battery

If the base station displays a charging error or fails to show the charge indicator after a battery swap, the BMS handshake has not completed. This happens when the replacement cell ships at storage voltage — typically around 3.6V — and the base's charge controller does not recognise it as a valid pack in that state. Place the headset in the base, leave it connected, and do not remove it mid-cycle. Once the cell voltage climbs past the recognition threshold, the base registers the pack and the charge indicator activates normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Arctis 9 cuts out mid-game even though the battery shows charged — what's happening?

This is a voltage sag issue, not a capacity issue. With both the 2.4GHz and Bluetooth radios active simultaneously, current draw spikes sharply during audio peaks, pulling cell voltage below the BMS cutoff even when the battery reads as full. It happens most often with a cell that has degraded internal resistance. Fitting a fresh cell resolves the sag — confirm the new battery has completed a full first charge cycle in the base station before testing.

Talk time on my Arctis 9 is noticeably shorter than rated for the first few sessions after replacing the battery — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong. Li-Polymer cells exit storage in a partially conditioned state, and the Arctis 9's BMS calibrates its capacity estimate over the first three to five full charge-discharge cycles. Talk time improves measurably across those early cycles as the cell reaches its rated 1500mAh output. Run three full cycles — charge in the base until the indicator shows complete, then use the headset until it powers down — before drawing any conclusions about capacity.

The Arctis 9 gets noticeably warm near the ear cup during long sessions — is that a battery problem?

Sustained warmth during extended use is normal given the housing constraints. The Arctis 9 concentrates the battery, two radio transmitters, and the audio driver in a compact ear cup with limited airflow. Under continuous dual-radio operation, the combined draw generates heat that the housing cannot dissipate quickly. If the headset becomes hot rather than warm, or shuts down from heat, check that the replacement cell is seated correctly and that the connector is fully engaged — a partial connection increases resistance and raises heat output at the cell.
