Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

T-Mobile Dash / MDA Mail — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (EXCA160)
This is a 3.7V, 2200mAh Li-ion cell built to fit the T-Mobile Dash and MDA Mail smartphones. It replaces OEM part numbers EXCA160 and 35H00080-00M. The cell matches the original's connector, physical footprint (55.82 × 35.90 × 10.11mm), and BMS communication profile.
- Dash and MDA Mail fitment: Both devices share the same battery bay dimensions, voltage rail, and BMS handshake protocol — one cell covers both platforms without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on a Dash unit and confirmed the BMS accepted the new cell without a firmware lockout, held a stable charge curve, and passed the protection circuit's overvoltage and undervoltage cutoff thresholds correctly.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first install: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before the charge IC pushes high current into an uncalibrated cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Dash after a cell swap
The Dash uses a coulomb-counting fuel gauge IC that retains the discharge curve from the old, degraded cell. When a new higher-capacity cell is installed, the IC's stored curve no longer matches actual cell voltage under load. At 20–30% reported charge, the new cell's real voltage under modem or screen load drops faster than the IC expects, triggering an emergency shutdown. One full discharge-charge cycle overwrites the old curve and resolves the cutoff. After calibration, the phone should read below 3.6V per cell before the first automatic shutdown.
Phone warm near the battery during the first charge after replacement
A new Li-ion cell arrives with higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell. During the first charge cycle, the charge IC pushes current into this higher-impedance cell, which generates more heat than normal at the battery contact area. This is not a fault — it reduces after one or two full cycles as the cell's impedance settles. If the device stays warm beyond the second full charge, check that the back cover is seated correctly and the cell contacts are clean and flush.

Frequently Asked Questions
My T-Mobile Dash shuts off at around 25% after I put in the new battery — is the cell defective?
The cell is not defective. The fuel gauge IC on the Dash is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve, so it misreads where the actual voltage cliff sits on the new cell. Under the load of the radio or display, the real cell voltage drops below the shutdown threshold before the percentage counter catches up. Run one full discharge down to auto-off, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — that single cycle recalibrates the coulomb counter and clears the early shutdown.
The battery percentage on my Dash is jumping around erratically after the swap — 60% one minute, 45% the next.
Erratic percentage readings after a cell swap are a fuel gauge IC problem, not a cell problem. The IC's internal model of charge state was built around the old cell's capacity and impedance, and the new cell's characteristics don't match. The gauge loses tracking confidence and jumps between estimates. Let the phone discharge fully to auto-off and charge back to 100% without interruption — the IC resets its tracking baseline at both endpoints and the readings stabilise within one to two cycles.
My Dash won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months before I installed it.
If the cell discharged below roughly 2.5V during storage, the BMS has entered lockout mode to prevent damage to an over-discharged cell. The phone will not respond to the power button in this state. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a USB port — and leave it for 20 to 30 minutes without pressing anything. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell at a low rate to bring it above the BMS re-enable threshold; once the cell reaches approximately 3.0V, the BMS unlocks and the phone will boot normally.
